In the lead up to the release of Horizon: Forbidden West, Sony has announced a fantastic community-driven initiative with the idea where players can contribute to the planting of trees and aid reforestation projects in the US, UK and France.
Want to know how you can contribute to such an amazing project? It's simple! Just play Horizon: Forbidden West between launch and Friday, 25 March, earn the 'Reached the Daunt' trophy and that's it!
The trophy is earned very early on in Horizon: Forbidden West, so players will be able to contribute with very little effort required. Let's take a look at some of the amazing causes that will be supported once the initiative goes live.
Horizon: Forbidden West planting trees Worldwide
In the US, Sony is working closely with three different programs that have reforestation at their core in association with the Arbor Day Foundation. The Douglas Country Forest (Wisconsin), Lassen County (California) and Torreya State Park (Florida) are all at-risk and in need of reforestation efforts.
Sony will be working with the well-known Eden Project in the UK. It highlights the importance of wildflower habitats and a brand new 12-acre habitat will be created as part of the deal. The Eden Project has been in place since 2001 and looks to preserve Wildflowers since their natural habitat within the UK is no longer protected.
PlayStation France also announced their participation claiming that one tree will be planted for every five players who unlock the trophy and post it on Twitter alongside the hashtag #LaForêtdAloy.
Hopefully, this will lead to more developers and publishers looking to make a positive change to the world through the power of video games. It's a nice counter to the recent trend of crypto-related content being forced upon us all by greed hungry corporate personnel.
