Manchester United said in a statement:

"We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind."

The removal of Greenwood was always set to arrive with the Winter Update, with SI 'gaffer' Miles Jacobson confirming this at the start of February.

At the time of his removal from Football Manager 2022, Greenwood was one of the highest-rated youngsters in the game.
