Latest - FM22 Released & Database live
With the full launch of Football Manager 2022, we get access to the FM22 Editor - enabling us to see all the ratings of the players on the game.
Current Ability (CA) marks what the player is currently rated, whereas Potential Ability (PA) is their ceiling.
Note that some players have a PA Range which will vary from save to save.
What makes a wonderkid goalkeeper?
Usually, we would class a wonderkid as a teenager with a high potential rating, however, goalkeepers are a slightly different breed.
Because it takes them longer to mature as players, and they usually have a longer career than their outfield teammates, we've bumped the age up to 21.
Some of these players will be ready to slot into your team straight away, others will need a lot of training, but either way, they have the potential to become brilliant on Football Manager 2022.
Ilan Meslier (CA 138 - PA 158)
Age: 21
Club: Leeds United
Value: £22-27 million
Wage: £40,000 a week
Frenchman Ilan Meslier arrived at Leeds relatively unknown, but the 21-year-old was named the club's young player of the year last season.
If the former Lorient man continues on this trajectory, he could move on from Leeds and challenge for the French no. 1 spot in a few years' time.
Marco Carnesecchi (CA 120 - PA 158)
Age: 21
Club: Cremonese (on loan from Atalanta)
Value: £6-8.8 million
Wage: £3,000 a week
From the French U21 goalkeeper to the Italian U21 stopper - with Marco Carenesecchi making a name for himself in Serie B with Cremonese.
After an initial loan spell at Trapani, he moved to Cremonese last year - with his loan deal extended dor this season; expect him to start challenging for a spot with parent club Atalanta in the near future.
Diogo Costa (CA 138 - PA 155)
Age: 21
Club: FC Porto
Value: £9.4-14 million
Wage: £12,000 a week
After getting first-team opportunities in the last two seasons, this year looks to be the one where Diogo Costa nails down a starting spot at Porto.
The Portuguese international has played every league and Champions League game so far this season, and made his national team against Qatar in November.
Nico Mantl (CA 119 - PA 155)
Age: 21
Club: RB Salzburg
Value: £8.8-10.5 million
Wage: £4,000 a week
RB Salzburg is building a reputation for bringing on wonderkids, with Sadio Mane, Naby Keita, Erling Haaland and Patso Daka all coming through the club.
A goalkeeper may now be joining them, with Nico Mantl arriving at the club after two seasons at German lower-league club Unterhaching as their first-choice goalie.
Giorgi Mamardashvili (CA 130 - PA Range 140-170)
Age: 20
Club: Valenia (on loan from Dinamo Tbilisi)
Value: £240,000-2.4 million
Wage: £3,000 a week
Credit to Valencia's scouts for spotting a Georgian talent, with Giorgi Mamardashvili initially only meant to be signing with the reserve team, only to impress in pre-season and claim a starting spot.
His performances for Valencia saw him earn his first cap for the national team, and if he carries on this form we expect Los Murcielagos to snap him up on a permanent basis.
Maarten Vandevoordt (CA 119 - PA 140-170)
Age: 19
Club: KRC Genk
Value: £13.5-17 million
Wage: £3,800 a week
The Genk academy has produced the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Yannick Carrasco and Thibaut Courtois, and Maarten Vandevoordt will hope to follow in their footsteps to become top class.
He has the second-best potential on the list and is a much cheaper option to Donnurumma, so look to him as your number one choice.
Manuel Gasparini (CA 101 - PA 140)
Age: 19
Club: Legnago (on loan from Udinese)
Value: £210,00-2.1 million
Wage: £2,000 a week
The Italian has just had a loan move to Legnago, who are in the third tier of the Italian leagues.
He will be solid in goal, but don't expect him to be a great distributor of the ball, with low passing.
Alejandro Iturbe (CA 95 - PA Range 140-170)
Age: 17
Club: A. Madrid B
Value: £9.8-11.5 million
Wage: £500 a week
Younger than the rest at 17 years old, Alejandro Iturbe will need a bit more TLC but can mix it with the best in the future.
Already very capable in one on one situations with his good reflexes, he will be a hard man to get past.
Lucas Canizares (CA 94 - PA Range 140-170)
Age: 19
Club: R. Madrid B
Value: £5.8-6.8 million
Wage: £1,900 a week
The son of ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper and Valencia legend Santiago Canizares, Lucas will be looking to match some of the achievements his father made.
The 19-year-old is yet to make his professional debut, but was promoted to Real Madrid's B team this season - so an opportunity could be on the horizon.
Andre Gomes (CA 90 - PA Range 140-170)
Age: 16
Club: SL Benfica
Value: £180,000-5.2 million
Wage: £1,000 a week
If you are looking for a super young goalkeeper, then Benfica's Andre Gomes is your man (or boy in this instance).
The 16-year-old is currently Portugal's U19 'keeper, but is still a few years away from making his professional debut.
