Final Fantasy 7 Remake came out last year, after being teased and hinted at for almost a decade. With it being free on PSPlus a little while ago, there are plenty of fans waiting for the future. Luckily, we already know that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 is coming, we just don't know the rest.
Here is everything we could uncover on its eventual release.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade
Before getting into part 2, it's important to understand the direction the story is taking. With Intergrade, Square Enix are releasing an upgraded version of the game for PS5, alongside a new DLC and the introduction of Yuffie, an old fn favourite.
This will feature a new story arc that directly leads into part 2, according to Tetsuya Nomura, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
A New Director?
Tetsuya Nomura will not be the director on part 2, according to an interview he did with Famitsu.
In that interview, he announced he was stepping down and would be replaced by Naoki Hamaguchi, who co-directed the first part. This being said, Nomura will not be leaving entirely and will occupy the role of creative director for the foreseeable future.
What Does This Mean?
This means quite a few things for the game but they will likely be fairly minimal. As the game takes a slightly different story to the original Final Fantasy, the team will likely make a few more drastic decisions and change the future of the game even more.
With this creative freedom, the team can take the story in a different direction to the way we might think they would. Changing directors allow someone else's creative vision to shine through.
Platforms
Like Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, part 2 will likely come to PS5 exclusively. Although games are still coming to both Platforms, the intergrade edition with Yuffie DLC is exclusive to PS5
We likely won't see a PC release as this isn't a first-party game so Sony likely won't receive anything for a PC port. If Sony and Square Enix strike a deal, it could but we don't see that happening soon.
Release Date
Unfortunately, we don't have a release date for this yet but the game is apparently developing "smoothly", as of right now. No doubt, the huge success of part one will inspire the development of the second part in a good way. Hopefully, we won't have to wait as long for this one.
