Strength has always been an important attribute in FIFA, and it is no different in FIFA 23. While ultra-high strength can't make up for a total lack of technical ability, it can make all the difference in key battles around the pitch.

While EA Sports FC is on the horizon and the impending split with the FIFA brand has everyone excited, we are looking at FIFA 23 strongest players in this piece!

Why strength matters in FIFA 23

High levels of physical ability have always been a difference-maker in FIFA games. While the fastest players in FIFA 23 can run around anyone, those with high strength can run through opponents.

Players with high strength can win battles in key situations and use their physicality to bully opposition players off the ball, or retain possession under duress. Part of the overarching meta of FIFA 23 gameplay is that the more physical a player is, the better!

Tomas Chory (OVR 73 - POT 73)

There are two players with 96 strength in FIFA 23, and the one with the highest OVR is Victoria Plzen's striker Tomas Chory. You might not have heard of him, but the 6'7" striker is a powerhouse in Career Mode.

With all that strength and height comes 86 aggression and 84 heading accuracy, making him deadly at corners. He's only got 52 jumping, but he starts a lot higher up than most players!

In a year or two's time we'll have Daryl Dike's name at the top of this list, but right now his OVR is just behind that of Chory.

Just behind Chory and Dike is the much more familiar name of Romelu Lukaku. One of the most expensive players in football history, appearing twice in the top 20 transfer fees of all time (and three times in the top 30!), Lukaku is a prolific striker that just can't seem to get it right with the big clubs in the Premier League.

In FIFA 23 with you at the controls though, he will be sure to bag goals. His 95 strength comes with 87 shot power, 86 sprint speed, 86 finishing, and 82 dribbling. He's a good all-round striker and can physically dominate any defence.

Duvan Zapata (OVR 82 - POT 82)

Another prolific striker on our list of strongest players is Duvan Zapata. The Colombian got his big break with Napoli in 2013, and after a few loan spells has found a settled home with Atalanta, Begamo Calcio in FIFA 23.

Zapata's 95 strength is backed up by 86 shot power and 84 finishing to make him deadly in front of goal. He's also got 82 heading accuracy, 82 reactions, and 80 jumping to be strong from set pieces.

Armando Mendez (OVR 70 - POT 70)

We're back to the unknown, with Armando Mendez next on our list. The Uruguayan right-back started his senior career with Nacional in Montevideo in 2018, but joined Argentine club Newell's Old Boys in January 2022.

Mendez is a rare non-CB or ST on this list, with his 95 strength coming along with 82 stamina, 82 acceleration, and 78 sprint speed. He will knock any winger into row 3 during a challenge, but he's not going to be a Nuno Mendes going forward.
