It is 22 days since the launch of FIFA 22, and since that time a staggering amount of us have been playing the game.
EA has released their record-breaking numbers as their flagship title has cemented itself as the world's most popular sports game.
Celebrate good times
The official statement accompanying the astounding numbers reads as follows:
"Today, EA SPORTS celebrates 22 days since the launch of EA SPORTS™ FIFA 22.
"This year’s title has already been played in more than 200 nations worldwide, with an average of 89 million matches being played per day totaling 2.1 billion matches and 46 trillion minutes played overall - the equivalent of over 87.8 million years of gameplay.
"Over 5 billion goals have been scored so far."
Room for expansion
EA is showing no signs of slowing down either with David Jackson, VP Brand, EA SPORTS FIFA stating;
“The growth of our global football platform continues at an unprecedented pace, and our fantastic community is engaging at an unparalleled level.
"We’re excited to continue that momentum by providing the most immersive football gaming experiences available to fans anywhere in the world.
“Alongside hundreds of licensing partners, including the Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga Santander, UEFA, and CONMEBOL, we’re privileged to create the world’s most authentic interactive football platform, enabling over 150 million fans across the globe to connect with their favourite leagues, clubs and players.”
Goals galore
In just 22 days of gameplay (yes, we know about early access too) there have been an incredible 5 billion goals scored, and that number will continue to rise!
The UK has the highest goal count with nearly 1 billion scored in the United Kingdom alone, with France the next highest as they approach the half-billion mark.
Breaking this down into matches played, and 89 million matches are being played each day, totaling up to 2.1 billion!
Once again the UK leads the way in matches played, registering just under 16 million matches played per day.
Career Mode Class
EA put a load of work into Career Mode ahead of FIFA 22, and that looks to be paying off!
The new create a club mode has seen 3.1 million new clubs created across the world.
There are some big names that keep cropping up on the transfer front too, with Borussia Dortmund stars Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham among the most popular signings in the game.
Surprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo is also on the list, with many of you signing CR7 before he retires.
Poor form
Now now, this is a little disappointing.
Far too many of you are selecting PSG when playing Kick Off or Season and that is completely unacceptable!
The French giants are the most used club in those modes, with 15 million of you selecting them.
With Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and the most meta defence going, PSG really are unstoppable in FIFA 22.
Best of the rest
Ultimate Team and Career Mode are not the only modes seeing huge success this season.
Over 58 million matches have been played in Pro Clubs this season, an incredible effort from the FIFA community.
One of EA's newest game modes VOLTA has also been on the rise with over 21 million matches played so far.
Last but not least, the 'Knee Slide' celebration has proved the most popular this season, after all, it is a classic!
