The Future Stars promo has brought us many top cards in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, with loads of SBC and objective players too.
Now, however, we're taking a look into the future at another promo that has been leaked.
It's another returning event, so find out everything you need to know about the What If promo in Ultimate Team here.
Release Date
For the first time in a while, the leakers don't seem to have all the information!
A few accounts have reported that the What If promo is confirmed to come in FIFA 22, but a start date is still up in the air.
FUTZone reported that it will drop on Friday, 25 February, but then changed that to early March.
We've seen another account suggest the date of Friday, 4 March, and we think that could be more likely.
Whenever it is released, it will almost certainly kick off at the usual time of 1pm ET / 6pm GMT on the day of release, like all other FUT releases.
The new What If cards will replace the previous promo players in packs immediately, and should also be joined by a new SBC and potentially new objectives.
What is What If?
The What If promo was new to FIFA 21, so that gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect when it returns this year.
A random assortment of selected platers will receive boosted cards, which are also 'live', meaning they have a chance of gaining an additional boost.
Unlike Ones to Watch or Headliners cards, What If cards are only eligible for a one-time +2 OVR upgrade, depending on if their team fulfils 'What If' scenarios based on real-life football criteria.
How the cards work
Instead of boosts due to individual performances, What If cards will be upgraded based on team results.
In FUT 21, Attackers & Midfielders were upgraded if the player’s club scored at least six total goals in the five domestic league game period.
At the other end of the pitch, Defenders & Goalkeepers were upgraded if the player’s club kept at least one clean sheet over the five domestic league game period.
Predictions
Anyone could be included in this promo, and, surprisingly, there have been very few leaks!
So, here is who we would like to see included in the event:
Presnel Kimpembe
EA has loved giving French players special cards this season, especially centre-backs.
We've yet to see any upgraded version of Presnel Kimpembe, so this could be his time to shine.
A FUT favourite, if he was released as an SBC the community would go wild!
Paulo Dybala
Another FUT favourite, another man who is yet to see any upgraded card in FUT22, Paulo Dybala would be another popular inclusion.
The Argentine already has all the top stats you want from a forward player, so a boosted version of his card would be unreal.
Toni Kroos
An issue FIFA has is that top players aren't always meta, so don't see much play.
One such player is Toni Kroos, because despite being brilliant technically, he is let down with 53 PAC.
EA could look to mix things up a bit and make him more relevant with a massive upgrade in that area.
