FIFA 22 Ultimate Team has offered up a plethora of exciting content this year, with many superstar players falling into our laps in the form of elaborate promos and exciting team of the week selections.
With that in mind, we wanted to take a look at our favourite players from this year's game, assessing the surprise stars that took our teams by storm and created another memorable campaign in Ultimate Team.

Mike Wicherek - Declan Rice FUT Birthday
As a West Ham fan, it's rare to have a player that you can use throughout the season in all the competitive FUT game modes.
I started with Declan Rice's Adidas Numbers Up item which did a valiant job alongside N'Golo Kante in midfield, so as soon as the FUT Birthday card arrived I had to upgrade!
The new card has not disappointed, allowing me to use Rice for the majority of the season so far and now my fingers are crossed for a Team of the Season card too.
Matt Francis - Marcelino Moreno MLS Objective
This may surprise a few, but for those that have watched the 'No FUTting Clue' series on our Twitch channel, you'll already know that Marcelino Moreno is very much the pick of the bunch.
A nifty midfielder with incredible ball control and shooting ability, Moreno is one player that I absolutely do not regret unlocking in the MLS objectives.
A standout for my team and a man with a penchant for the occasional screamer, Moreno is by far the most enjoyable player I've used in Ultimate Team this year.
Mark Pangalos - RTTF Riyad Mahrez
Pace, skills and clinical finishing. Riyad Mahrez’s Road to the Final card is everything you want from an attacker in FIFA 22.
What really stands above all other cards is Mahrez’s unbelievable dribbling and agility, which can only be likened to that of a Team of the Year (TOTY) card and is the best that I personally have experienced in FUT 22.
David Luff - Olivier Giroud Player Moments
Sometimes you just find a card that compliments your playstyle. For me, Player Moments Olivier Giroud is that man.
He is lethal in and around the box and can hold onto the ball with ease, making him the perfect striker for a team with pacey wingers surrounding him.
He isn't very meta, but that makes me love him all the more.
Tom Young - Phil Foden TOTY Honourable Mentions
I tried to avoid my blue-tinted glasses as much as I could with this selection, but for me, the best card that I have used this year is the TOTY Honourable Mentions version of the best young footballer in the world, Phil Foden.
I had previously used Foden’s first TOTW item and his Rulebreakers card (which was also very good may I add), but this TOTY card is different gravy. His dribbling is on a par with the very best cards in the game and whilst he’s not cheap, he’s certainly good value for money. He knows where the back of the net is too!
Big Phil will undoubtedly have plenty more special cards over coming weeks, months and years, but I doubt I’ll enjoy any as much as I have this card!
