The latest FIFA 22 database update has just gone live and it looks like EA has made a BIG call regarding Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.
The 20-year-old has been removed from FIFA 22 offline modes, however, the FUT community is still taking advantage of his presence in Ultimate Team, despite the horrific allegations against him.
Greenwood removed from FIFA 22
The latest database update was released on Tuesday, 1 February on all platforms including PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
This update revealed that Greenwood no longer features in FIFA 22 in offline game modes, having been removed from the Manchester United squad.
The Man United striker was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault on the afternoon of Sunday, 30 January, after a woman alleging incidents of violence posted pictures and videos on social media.
These images have since been deleted.
Manchester United confirmed on Sunday that the 20-year-old will not be training or playing for the club until further notice.
Manchester United said in an earlier statement:
"We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind."
Greenwood made his debut back in 2019 and has since clocked up 129 appearances for the club, with United fans having had such high hopes for the youngster.
At the time of his removal from FIFA 22, Greenwood's virtual player had an overall rating of 79, with a potential rating of 90 OVR, making him one of the most promising youngsters in Career Mode.
Greenwood's FUT price skyrockets
Despite the removal from offline modes, Mason Greenwood's Ultimate Team card is still currently active in FIFA 22.
It seems that the toxic FUT community has come to the fore yet again, as a number of FIFA 22 players have managed to price-fix Mason Greenwood's FUT card.
As you can see from the graph above, the English forward's price has risen by around 300% amid the horrific social media allegations.
We have seen similar price-fixing with players who have had allegations thrown at them in the past and it should be allowed to continue to happen in FIFA 22.
So, we wait to see whether EA will remove Greenwood from the game completely and make him unusable for players whilst he remains under investigation.
