Finally, our first bit of FIFA 22 news ahead of the release later this year!
EA has confirmed that all their sports titles will be coming to next-gen consoles this year, so fingers crossed for some PS5 and Xbox Series X stock.
Take a look at what EA CEO Andrew Wilson had to say in the EA Q4 2021 Earnings Call below.
FIFA 22
Unsurprisingly there has been no word as yet on when FIFA 22 will officially be released, but we can have a pretty accurate guess.
FIFA 22 will likely be released between Friday, 24 September and Friday, 8 October, 2021, judging by the release in previous years.
Success
FIFA 21 has been the most successful title yet in the EA franchise. "Our EA Sports FIFA experiences continue to engage more than 100 million players worldwide," said Wilson.
"More than 20 million players played FIFA Ultimate Team in the last year, and FIFA Ultimate Team matches were up an incredible 180%.
"Madden NFL had its biggest year ever, and games across our EA Sports portfolio continue to acquire more players than ever before.
"We'll now build on that strength with a massive year of innovation and expansion."
Keep on growing
EA is intent on improving too with plans to keep on growing their sports titles.
"We'll grow in sports model with innovation in our leading franchises, including FIFA, Madden, and UFC as well as the addition of MLB Tap Sports Baseball to our mobile sports portfolio," said Wilson.
"We've talked about new packs. We've talked about a number of new FIFA titles from our mobile group and new mobile titles in Asia."
The new packs have certainly caught our attention, but is that meant for the FIFA franchise? We will have to wait and see.
Next-gen
FIFA 22 is going to be 'extraordinary' on next-gen consoles, according to Wilson.
"All of our new EA Sports games in FY '22 are designed for next-gen console platforms including FIFA, Madden, NHL, and EA Sports PGA TOUR, our return to golf that is set for Q4 of this year," he said.
"The games on next-generation consoles are going to be extraordinary. And remember, we've already launched FIFA and Madden on those platforms."
Safe to say this has certainly whetted our appetite for EA Play Live next month.
EA Play Live
Get it in your diaries folks, EA Play Live will arrive on Saturday, 22 June.
Electronic Arts revealed the official date on Twitter and it also confirms that the event will run separately to E3 2021.
E3 2021 will begin earlier in the month on Saturday, 12 June, and end on Tuesday, 15 June.
You will be able to watch on a live stream on various social channels, and at the very least we should get a first look at the FIFA 22 trailer.
