FIFA 22 Career Mode lets you build a dynasty with your favourite clubs, creating superpowers out of minnows and making the signings you wish had happened.
One of the big news stories in the footballing world has been the financial takeover of Newcastle United, now the richest club around and looking to use that financial backing to restore greatness.
We take a look at their winter transfer signings and how they have affected the team you will inherit when picking them on your Career Mode save.
Kieran Trippier (84 OVR)
Newcastle's marquee signing in the winter transfer window was the former Atletico Madrid man Kieran Trippier.
He has played every game since arriving, popping up with two goals too!
At 30 years old he won't be a long term fix for your Career Mode save, but he is still the joint fifth-best rated right-back in the game.
Bruno Guimaraes (80 OVR)
A mainstay in the Lyon side, Bruno Guimaraes will be eager for far more game time than his current couple of one-minute appearances have given so far.
This signing will prove very useful in Career Mode, with no truly good central-midfielders in the side.
With a potential rating of 85 OVR, this will also help with the long term planning with the club.
Chris Wood (77 OVR)
Chris Wood has seen his rating slip twice this season, initially rated 79 OVR he now sits at 77 OVR.
He isn't a signing you'd usually make yourself, a target man with poor pace and not very agile, but if you play to his strengths (such as his 85 Strength), you can use him to hold the ball up and bring in your more exciting players like Allan Saint-Maximin.
Due to the injury suffered by Callum Wilson Newcastle needed to bring in another striker to see out the season, and Wood will almost certainly be on the transfer list in your Career Mode.
Matt Targett (77 OVR)
A top performer for Aston Villa last season, Matt Targett can certainly do a job for the side, even if he is only on loan until the end of this term.
A decent enough left-back, he is Newcastle United's highest-rated player in the position, and with 81 Crossing will be able to find the target men in the box.
Dan Burn (75 OVR)
Newcastle definitely needs to make improvements at the back, but the signing of Dan Burn just looks like more of the same.
Another 75 OVR centre-back doesn't upgrade the starting XI at all but does give you another option to Fabian Schar and Jamaal Lascelles.
At 6'6" and with 89 Strength he will be able to dominate in the air, but his 48 PAC, 33 Agility and 30 Balance leave a lot to be desired.
New Lineup
Taking into account the new signings, this is how we would lineup as Newcastle United now.
Of the new faces Trippier, Taggert and Guimaraes break into the starting XI, but Wood and Burn will have to make do on the bench.
Although Trippier comes in as the best-rated player in the squad, we think the most impact will be felt in midfield, with Guimaraes bringing some real class and control to the side.
Wood and Burn are decent additions and can help if the fixtures get heavy, but we don't see either as greater players than Newcastle already had.
Future Signings
There is still plenty of work to be done on the side, with good signings needed all over the pitch.
Problem areas are still central defence, left-back, centre-midfield and right midfield.
Once those areas have had some work done you will also want to look at investing in a top-class striker with decent potential, who can take over from Wilson.
When starting your Newcastle United Career Mode you can opt for a financial takeover option, and, depending on how big you make the war chest, you could make quite the formidable side!
