New look Spain squad could be top dogs in FIFA Career Mode

Spain manager Luis Enrique has announced a 24-man squad ahead of EURO 2020, and there is no place for Sergio Ramos.

Instead, Aymeric Laporte receives his first call-up after his switch of allegiance and should see a change in nationality in FIFA 21.

There is plenty of exciting talent throughout the squad, so there could be some exciting times ahead for the Spanish national team both in real life and in-game.

Ramos misses out on EURO 2020

Legendary Spanish centre-back Sergio Ramos has not been named in the Spain squad for EURO 2020, but the door is not closed on his international career.

"It was a very difficult decision but he [Ramos] has not been able to play this season and has hardly trained since January," said Luis Enrique.

"I called him yesterday [Sunday] - it was hard, difficult. I feel bad because he is very professional and he helps the national team a lot. And he can still help it in the future. But I have to look for the best for the squad."

With no Ramos in the squad, we are less likely to see any future Ramos cards released in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team - and you do wonder if we'll ever see him in Spain red again.

New look

There are no Real Madrid players in Spain's squad for this summer's tournament, meaning that Spain will head into a major tournament with representation from no Los Blancos in the squad for the first time ever.

While Ramos along with Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez won't be fit for the tournament, the exclusion of Isco, Marco Asensio, and Nacho Fernandez is surprising.

EXPERIENCE IS KEY - Spain's midfield has an ageing look about it

With all these Real Madrid stars missing, how does the Spanish squad look? There is a strong Premier League presence in the side with ten players named, including Manchester City quartet Laporte, Garcia, Rodri, and Ferran Torres.

There is still plenty of quality in the side, although it does feel like they are missing a top-class forward.

Future stars

Torres is one of several youngsters that should become mainstays in the team with Pedri and Mikel Oyarzabal, and it is a terrible shame that Ansu Fati remains injured too.

With several promising youngsters showing great potential, Spain could be the top dogs in FIFA 22 Career Mode.

EURO 2024 - Is this how Spain will line up in four years time

Pedri has grown by 5 overall points on FIFA 21 already, with his current in-game potential being 91 - watch out for this future superstar as he becomes a Career Mode must-have for years to come.

With Pedri set to be the star, players like Fati, Torres, and Mikel Oyarzabal should flourish with top-class service from midfield.
