Edinson Cavani has signed a one-year contract extension with Manchester United, meaning he will stay at the club until June 2022.
United look set to finish second in the Premier League and will face Villareal in the Europa League final as they look to claim some silverware this season.
Cavani has been in superb form at the end of the season, so his contract extension is great news for the Red Devils.
Staying in Red
It is widely appreciated that Cavani has been an astute signing for United this season, with Gary Neville recently calling him the signing of the season.
Neville is not the only one please with the news, with Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly delighted that his striker is staying for another season.
"Edinson is one of the last to leave the training ground and sets the tone for the upcoming youngsters with his approach to his profession every single day," said Solskjaer.
Cavani also said "I have developed a great affection for the club and everything that it represents. I feel a deep bond with my teammates and the staff who work behind the scenes."
Goal Machine
Edinson Cavani has consistently found the net during his first season at Old Trafford, scoring 15 times in all competitions.
In just 11 starts, Cavani has scored nine Premier League goals, but his greatest performances have come in United's Europa League run.
After failing to score in the Champions League group stages, Cavani has turned it on in the Europa League knockout rounds helping United reach the final.
The 34-year-old scored four and assisted three across two legs in the semi-final against Roma, so Villareal better watch out.
Master and Apprentice
Premier League record goalscorer Alan Shearer has called Cavani and Greenwood 'the master and the apprentice'.
Greenwood is regarded as one of the most natural finishers in the league and he will only get better learning from the vast experience of Cavani.
With Greenwood tipped for stardom, we look at some of the other great master and apprentice relationships.
Ronaldinho & Lionel Messi
One of the all-time great master and apprentice duos, both of these stars have been a joy to watch throughout their careers.
Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi spent three years together in Barcelona's first team and the Brazilian was present during Messi's formative years.
Barcelona won La Liga and the Champions League in Messi's first season, and it was a sign of things to come as Messi boasts 10 La Liga titles and four Champions League winners medals.
Carles Puyol & Gerard Pique
Arguably one of the best defensive pairings of all time, Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique won it all together.
From La Liga to the Champions League and even the World Cup, these two stood strong throughout and were immovable during their years together at Barca.
Both defenders have at least 100 caps for Spain too, showing their longevity among the elite.
Dennis Bergkamp & Thierry Henry
First united in the 1999/00 season when a fresh-faced Thierry Henry arrived from Juventus, Dennis Bergkamp and Henry would go on to forge one of the most lethal attacking partnerships in Premier League history.
During their years together, Thierry Henry was the club's top scorer in each season as Arsenal picked up eight trophies between 1999-2005.
The Gunners have failed to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title since their departure.
