There are heaps and heaps of FIFA Ultimate Team ICONs on this
year’s game, with FIFA 20 seeing close to 90 different legends in Ultimate Team.
15 were added ahead of FIFA 20’s release, so that got us thinking,
which current players could be in for a FUT ICON card once they retire.
We run through the seven players we want to see take to Ultimate Team even after they hang up their boots.
Lionel Messi (OVR 93 – 98 – 95)
Lionel Messi will look to challenge Pele for the highest
rated card in the game, with the Argentine scoring over 680 goals during his professional
career.
This number will be close to 800 by the time he retires, and
it’s easy to forget the sheer amount of trophies the little magician has won
with Barcelona. 10 La Liga titles, six Copa del Reys, four Champions Leagues,
three Club World Cups and an Olympic Gold Medal makes him one of the most
decorated players we have ever seen.
The 32-year-old should receive a Pele-matching 98 Prime
rating, supported by cards of 93 and 95.
Cristiano Ronaldo (OVR 93 – 98 – 94)
Cristiano Ronaldo will always be there alongside Messi, with the Portuguese having the edge over his rival when it comes to international & multiple league success.

CR7’s near 700 career goals puts him ahead of Messi, and he
can say he has league titles in England (Manchester United), Spain (Real Madrid)
and Italy (Juventus), more Champions Leagues (five) and has won two international
tournaments (European Championships & UEFA Nations League).
The forward’s time at Manchester United should be remembered
with a 93 rating on Ultimate Team, with a 98 Prime card representing his
hat-trick of Champions League titles at Real Madrid. That carries into his
third card of 94, after failing to hit the same heights in Italy.
Neymar (OVR 89 – 94 – 92)
Ah, Neymar. The charismatic Brazilian who was supposed to
hit the same heights as Pele, Messi & Ronaldo.
It was going so well for the attacker – native hero at
Santos, makes a big money move to Barcelona, hones his skills alongside one of
the best players to have ever lived, before making a world record transfer to a
club where he can be the king. The problem was, PSG didn’t have the experience
to put Neymar on that platform.
He is likely to leave France next year after failing to
force through a move last summer. Still only 27, it’s tough to predict what he
could be rated after he retires. An 89 overall seems fair for 130+ goals scored
at Santos, with a 94 Prime for his Barcelona years where he won three La Liga
titles and a Champions League in four seasons. As it stands, his PSG rating
would be 92 at best.
Eden Hazard (OVR 85 – 93 – 91)
EA seem to love Chelsea legends in Ultimate Team, with Ruud Gullit, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Gianfranco Zola, Claude Makelele, Michael Essien, Marcel Desailly and Michael Ballack all on FIFA 20.

Eden Hazard, the FIFA 20 cover star, looks destined to join
them once he retires, but the Belgian isn’t close to finishing. Aged 28, the £89
million Real Madrid signing has already claimed two Premier League titles, an
FA Cup, two Europa Leagues and a Ligue 1 title in his career so far.
An international title with Belgium is perhaps all that stands
in the way for the left winger to become one of the greatest players we have
ever seen, with his ICON ratings set to be 85, a Prime 93 and a 91.
Sergio Aguero (OVR 86 – 94 – 92)
Manchester City’s record goal scorer is the most clinical
forward we have ever seen in Premier League history. The Argentine has 172
goals in the league alone, at an average of 0.7 goals a game, the best rate of
any player with more than 100 goals.
Now 31, the forward will run out of time before he can catch
Alan Shearer on 260, but he does look set to become the third player to break the
200 mark (with Wayne Rooney being the second).
We cannot forget his time at Atletico Madrid either, where Aguero
picked up a Europa League crown in 2010. That should be represented with an 86 rating,
with his Prime Man City days deserving a 94 overall. The four-time Premier
League winner’s final card should be a 92, as his career winds down.
Sergio Ramos (OVR 85 – 94 – 92)
Another Sergio, Ramos doesn’t have the greatest reputation, but few can argue against his glittering CV. The Real Madrid captain has been at the club since 2005, claiming four league titles, four Champions League and four Club World Cup titles.

It’s been a while since Spain were in tournament finals, but
the defender was a key member of the squad that lifted three international
titles in a row – the 2008 Euros, 2010 World Cup & 2012 Euros.
Ramos, who is also useful goalscorer with over 110 in his career,
should see an 85 overall rating for his Sevilla & early Madrid days (when
he was a right back), with a 94 rating representing his prime years. A 92 third
card would include the last of his Champions League titles in 2018. Â
Wayne Rooney (OVR 89 – 92 – 85)
We could see Wayne Rooney as a FUT ICON in the next handful
of years, with the 33-year-old set to take up a player-coach role at Derby
County in January.
You can liken England’s record goalscorer to Neymar in many respects. He burst onto the scene at Everton, and excelled even more after signing for Manchester United in a £26 million deal. Five Premier Leagues, and a Champions League showed United’s & Rooney’s brilliance, but he like many others struggled after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
A move to Everton only saw a slight resurgence, but the former England captain has performed brilliantly in the MLS. An 89 overall would represent his classic number 9 days at Everton and first few Man United years, before blossoming into a number 10 at his peak. This did fall off however, with no league titles since 2013.
