Last week saw the launch of FIFA Ultimate Team's annual Halloween promotion, Ultimate Scream. FUT’s spine-tingling special promotion will feature two separate squads of creepy cards, running from the 18th October to 31st October 2019.

What is Ultimate Scream?

Ultimate Scream will consist of a squad of shapeshifting beasts in the form of special player items that possess permanent upgrades to specific stats. The first 11 Scream Team Players will be in packs from the start of Ultimate Scream until October 25 and over Halloween. A second team of players will be in packs from October 25 until the end of the event.

What to expect over the year

Unlike previous years, these special player item's will NOT receive additional stat boosts through the year. All Ultimate Scream players will receive PERMANENT upgrades which last throughout FUT 20. Each Scream Team player has a different combination of upgrades.

Players we’d like to see included

The following is a list of players that we think EA should include in the 23-man Ultimate Scream squad.

Ederson

Having helped Man City retain the Premier League last year, Ederson makes for a truly daunting presence in goal. His goalkeeping abilities are enough give any striker the chills, not to mention his general appearance and tattoos mean you wouldn’t want to bump in to the Brazilian down a dark alley.

Jonny Tah

The German centre back is an absolute man-mountain, with a height of 6ft5 and strength rating of 93. Surely he has to be a consideration for the Halloween special as he’d be downright petrifying with the inclusion of boosted stats.

Virgil Van Dijk

The Dutchman is possibly the most intimidating figure in the game. He is an absolute goliath in defence with most opponents being completely startled at the prospect of trying to get past him. A Van Dijk Ultimate Scream card would likely be one of the most sought after cards on the market.

Matteo Guendouzi

Apart from his freakish, Side-show Bob-esque hairstyle, the young Frenchman’s recent performances have been scarily good for a midfielder of his age. As the new kid on the block, surely EA won’t miss a trick in naming Guendouzi as part of their Ultimate Scream squad.

Marek Hamsik

The Slovakian midfielder has somewhat dropped off the map since moving to the Chinese Super League, but we can’t believe he hasn’t been included in any prior Ultimate Scream squads. As if his menacing Mohican wasn’t enough, Hamsik has been terrorising defences for years with his playmaking ability.

Adebayo Akinfenwa

Akinfenwa has become a FIFA phenomenon over the years and was granted the mantle of strongest player on FIFA 20. We think it’s high time the beast himself was awarded an Ultimate Scream card; let’s be honest, his strength of 97 combined with 90 Pace is a truly terrifying prospect.

Paulo Dybala

With his trademark mask celebration, it makes sense for the Piemonte playmaker to be included in this year’s Halloween special. If his pace and shooting stats were upgraded to join his 90 rated dribbling, the Argentine would horrify any defence.
