expand image

Position: ST, LW

Age: 34

Club: Piemonte Calcio
(Juventus)

Country: Portugal

CR7 will be gutted he falls behind Messi, but after a season in which he claimed the Serie A title with new club Juventus, and added the UEFA Nations League with Portugal, he still has much to be proud of.

Neymar (OVR 92)

expand image

Position: LW, CAM

Age: 27

Club: PSG

Country: Brazil

It is a surprise to see Neymar so high up on the list, but you can’t deny the Brazilian’s quality. How he bounces back from injury troubles and transfer speculation will be the making of him this season.

Eden Hazard (OVR 91)

expand image

Position: LW, CF

Age: 28

Club: Real Madrid

Country: Belgium

A threat to the top two? Eden Hazard’s move to Los Blancos makes perfect sense, but with the side faltering there is more pressure on the £89 million man than there was at Chelsea.

Mohamed Salah (OVR 90)

expand image

Position: RW, ST

Age: 27

Club: Liverpool

Country: Egypt

Mo Salah’s Liverpool were the champions,
with the Egyptian king overdue some top class silverware. If he finds that form
for a third season in a row, you wouldn’t bet against the Reds finally winning a
Premier League title this year.

Kylian Mbappe (OVR 89)

expand image

Position: ST, RW

Age: 20

Club: PSG

Country: France

If he wasn’t so young, Kylian Mbappe
would be in the 90s, with the Frenchman leaving Neymar in his dust at PSG. 39
goals in 43 appearances shows how deadly he is, and now the Champions League is
what is missing from the World Cup winner’s resume so far.

Sergio Aguero (OVR 89)

expand image

Position: ST

Age: 31

Club: Manchester City

Country: Argentina

There’s just no stopping Sergio Aguero. There

for the fifth time in eight seasons in England.

Robert Lewandowski (OVR 89)

expand image

Position: ST

Age: 31

Club: Bayern Munich

Country: Poland

The best all-round striker on the planet? He may be north of 30, but a fourth-successive season with 40+ goals shows Bayern forward Robert Lewandowski isn’t going anyway.

Harry Kane (OVR 89)

expand image

Position: ST

Age: 26

Club: Tottenham

Country: England

Harry Kane is hot on Lewandowski’s tail, with a few injury niggles last season stopping him from kicking on. As a result, the England captain wasn’t on top form when Spurs fell to Liverpool in the Champions League final.

Antoine Griezmann (OVR 89)

expand image

Position: CF, ST

Age: 28

Club: Barcelona

Country: France

A summer move for Antoine Griezmann,
and it will be interesting to see how he plays with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez
at Barcelona. After all the adulation he received at Atletico Madrid, he must
deliver for an expectant Camp Nou.

Luis Suarez (OVR 89)

expand image

Position: ST

Age: 32

Club: Barcelona

Country: Uruguay

Luis Suarez’s place is now under
threat at Barcelona, and he will be a relieved man that Neymar didn’t return
over the summer. His goal return fell to 25 last season, his lowest output since
2011-12.

Raheem Sterling (OVR 88)

expand image

Position: RW, LW

Age: 24

Club: Manchester City

Country: England

Raheem Sterling is another man who
could have been eying a higher rating, but haps delivering in Europe is the one
thing standing in his way. Never did we see the winger as a 20+ goals a season
man, and he has now done so two seasons running.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (OVR 88)

expand image

Position: ST

Age: 30

Club: Arsenal

Country: Gabon

What an addition to the Premier League
this man has been. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s partnership with Alexandre
Lacazette in the Arsenal attack is something rarely seen nowadays, resulting in
31 goals for the Gabon man last season.

Sadio Mane (OVR 88)

expand image

Position: LW, RW, LM

Age: 27

Club: Liverpool

Country: Senegal

He may have been the weakest link in
Liverpool’s front three before, but that is no longer the case for Sadio Mane.
The Senegal star bagged 26 goals last term, the highest ouput of his career thus
far.

Edinson Cavani (OVR 88)

expand image

Position: ST

Age: 32

Club: PSG

Country: Uruguay

Despite an 88 OVR, Edinson
Cavani is third fiddle to Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at PSG – with the Uruguayan’s
goal return falling from 40 to 23 last season. The club’s record goal scorer as
one final season to prove his quality to the world.

Karim Benzema (OVR 87)

expand image

Position: CF, ST

Age: 31

Club: Real Madrid

Country: France

One of very few strong performers for Real Madrid last season, Karim Benzema is a striker unshackled with no Cristiano Ronaldo at the club.

Heung-min Son (OVR 87)

expand image

Position: CF, LM

Age: 27

Club: Tottenham Hotspur

Country: South Korea

Heung-min Son moves into attack for

Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield, UEFA
Nations League – Bernardo Silva’s trophy haul last season. Equally adept on the
wing or in central midfield, expect the Portuguese to be Premier League force
for years to come.

Dries Mertens (OVR 87)

expand image

Position: CF, ST

Age: 32

Club: Napoli

Country: Belgium

A FIFA favourite, Dries
Mertens is a tricky man to play against. Aged 32, his best days may be behind
him, but he still netted 20 goals in Naples last term.

Lorenzo Insigne (OVR 87)

expand image

Position: CF, LW, ST

Age: 28

Club: Napoli

Country: Italy

Now Napoli’s main man, Lorenzo Insigne
is an underrated man on the football since. The Italian netted 14 goals and
picked up six assist last term under Carlo Ancelotti, and with a new regime at
Juventus, Napoli are title contenders once again.

Leroy Sane (OVR 86)

expand image

Position: LW, RW

Age: 23

Club: Manchester City

Country: Germany

A nasty injury a stunted Leroy Sane’s progress, and a potential move to Bayern Munich, but let’s hope the pacey winger returns later in the season to strut his stuff once again.

Angel Di Maria (OVR 86)

expand image

Position: RW, LW

Age: 31

Club: PSG

Country: Argentina

Angel Di Maria receives plenty of flack, but the Argentine bounced back last season. With Neymar injured, he was a regular in the PSG lineup, as shown in the club’s first leg victory over former club Manchester United in the Champions League.

Alexandre Lacazette (OVR 86)

Phillipe Coutinho (OVR 86)

expand image

Position: LW, CAM, CM

Age: 27

Club: Bayern Munich

Country: Brazil

A new stars beckons for Philippe Coutinho at Bayern Munich, and it looks to be a good move. The German champions lack a playmaker, and he adds some serious X factor to a new-look side.

Ciro Immobile (OVR 86)

expand image

Position: ST

Age: 29

Club: Lazio

Country: Italy

A clinical striker, you would have forgiven Ciro Immobile for leaving Lazio after the Italian club finished eight in Serie A las term. He has stayed, and started the new campaign brilliantly with two goals in as many games.

Romelu Lukaku (OVR 85)

expand image

Position: ST

Age: 26

Club: Inter Milan

Country: Belgium

Also now in Italy, Romelu
Lukau will look to silence the critics that game him so much flack at Manchester
United. With over 100 Premier League goals to his name, Inter may have the man
to fire them to the Serie A title over Juventus.

Mauro Icardi (OVR 85)

expand image

Position: ST

Age: 26

Club: PSG

Country: Argentina

With Lukaku joining, Mauro Icardi has departed on loan to
PSG, where he is likely to occupy the bench behind strikers Mbappe and Cavani.

on.

to Manchester United if needed.
