Spurs will enjoy another campaign amongst Europe’s elite in the Champions League where they experienced success against Juventus and Real Madrid last season. Mauricio Pochettino will hope to bring silverware back finally to Tottenham after enjoying incredible progress with no trophies to show for it.
The squad Spurs have this season contains lots of ability, however lacks the pace of the other top sides. Only two players have pace ratings above 80 in the squad, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min which shows where they can improve. Defensively they are solid with good depth in all positions across the back line. RealSport takes a look at their squad on FIFA 19.Â
Team Rating
Tottenham have finally made that step to a 5 star team, with their strength clearly coming up front. Harry Kane makes their attack rating 85, with the midfield at 83 and defence surprisingly low at 82.
Hugo Lloris (OVR 88)
Age: 31
Positions: GK
Country: France
Captain Hugo Lloris returns to North London from leading his country to World Cup glory in the summer. Questions have been asked in recent seasons over his consistency following a number of mistakes, however Lloris still boasts an impressive 88 OVR on FIFA which will mean he is reliable to all who use him.Â
Kieran Trippier (OVR 81)
Age: 27
Positions: RB, RWB
Country: England
One of England’s heroes in Russia this summer, Kieran Trippier has been rewarded an upgrade to an 81 OVR. A key feature of the 27-year-olds game is his crossing, attempting 122 crosses last season and providing five assists. This constant threat from out wide is reflected in his 82 passing stat on FIFA 19.
Toby Alderweireld (OVR 85)
Age: 29
Positions: CB
Country: Belgium
After a summer of uncertainty surrounding his future, Toby Alderweireld has been re-integrated into the Spurs lineup successfully. Along with fellow Belgian international Jan Vertonghen, the 29-year-old has formed one of the best centre back partnerships in the world. Despite missing much of last season, Alderweireld successfully made 40% of his tackles, second only to partner Vertonghen among the Spurs defenders.
Jan Vertonghen (OVR 87)
Age: 31
Positions: CB
Country: Belgium
Jan Vertonghen only missed two matches last season and won the most aerial duels of anyone in the Spurs squad amassing 112, 35 more than Eric Dier in second. With a massive 87 overall and 88 defensive stats Vertonghen is up with the best defenders in the world.Â
Ben Davies (OVR 80)
Age: 25
Positions: LB, LWB
Country: Wales
Injury to Danny Rose last season allowed Ben Davies to play the majority of games at left-back for Spurs and he has now cemented himself as first choice with a number of solid displays. A drop to Rose’s OVR to 80 means Davies is also the better of the two on FIFA 19, although their respective stats are remarkably similar.Â
Eric Dier (OVR 80)
Age: 24
Positions: CDM, CB
Country: England
Eric Dier’s role in midfield is to be disciplined and protect the back four, something he does well as Spurs only conceded 36 goals last season. Dier created just 15 chances in 2017/18 however he won 50% of his duels and completed four defensive actions per game showing his worth to Spurs in a defensive role.
Mousa Dembele (OVR 84)
Age: 31
Positions: CM, CDM
Country: Belgium
Moussa Dembele possesses an excellent 87 dribbling stat along with 82 physical attributes to make him impossible to shrug off the ball. Christian Eriksen (OVR 87)
Age: 26
Positions: CAM, RM, CM

Dele Alli (OVR 84)
Age: 22
Positions: CAM
Country: England
22-year-old Dele Alli contributed 19 goals last season in 36 appearances, scoring ten and assisting 9 whilst creating 58 chances. Alli often plays further forward alongside Harry Kane compared to Eriksen who is more likely to drift wide. The England international's 82 shooting will provide plenty of goal threats from midfield.
Lucas Moura (OVR 82)
Age: 26
Positions: RW, LW
Country: Brazil
Electrifying winger Lucas Moura struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League after arriving from Paris in January, however he looks to have returned from the summer rejuvenated and displaying fine form. With Son Heung-min away with South Korea, Lucas has taken his opportunity and scored three goals in four games. His 92 pace makes him the fastest player at Spurs and a threat from out wide.
Harry Kane (OVR 88)
Age: 25
Positions: ST
Country: England
World Cup Golden Boot winner Harry Kane has earned himself a boost up to 88 OVR. The England striker enjoyed another prolific season in front of goal scoring 30 goals in the league.
