FIFA 19 revamp as Gfinity Elite Series prepares for Season 4

The summer has come and gone, and just as we batten down the hatches over the winter, the Gfinity Elite Series Delivered by Domino’s is here to take us through to Christmas.

Over seven weeks, ten gaming organisations will do battle on three game titles at the Gfinity Arena in London; FIFA 19, Rocket League Street Fighter V.

FIFA grabs the headlines, with the EA Sports title appearing in the Elite Series for just the second time. It's also the freshest title in the series, having only been released at the end of September. Not only that, the format has been revamped to give greater variation and excitement, with players facing off in 2 on 2 action and having a pre-season auction to ensure every squad is entirely different.

Pairing up

For the first time in the Elite Series, the FIFA pro gamers will pair up with their teammates to face off in two-on-two action. FIFA 19 has only just been released, so the teams will not have had much time to practice, and they must juggle this preparation with their solo play.

This hands a huge advantage to reigning champions AS Roma Fnatic, with their FIFA team all living together in London. Simon ‘Zimme’ Nystedt and Conran ‘Rannerz’ Tobin were the champions last season, but this time around will have to partner up on their respected consoles. With former Nordavind man and FIFA eWorld Cup qualifier Damian ‘Damie’ Augustyniak linking up with Zimme on PlayStation 4, you will be surprised if any other side gets near them.

Zimme said: "Me and Damie have been practicing a lot of 2v2 against our teammates, and I’m just happy if we win as a team, rather than myself after winning the MVP award last season. We do play with different formations, though, so we don’t know which system we will use in the Elite Series yet."
