After seven years of Bayern Munich dominance, the Bundesliga has been blown wide open, with the defending champions struggling under new manager Niko Kovac. Bayern find themselves down in fourth place, nine points behind unbeaten Der Klassiker rivals Borussia Dortmund.
With the division at its most exciting in years, the competition for the Player of the Month award is fiercer than ever. November was a tricky month, with an international break meaning the majority of sides in the German top flight only played three times.
Whoever receives November’s prize will also see their Ultimate Team rating on FIFA 19 improve in a new POTM card. This card be unlocked by anyone as long as they complete the various squad building challenges (SBCs) required. The winner will be selected by public vote, as RealSport predicts who is to be in the running for the prize, following Marco Reus and Jadon Sancho this season.
Thorgan Hazard (OVR 81 – POTM 87)
Stepping out of his brother’s shadow, Thorgan Hazard has been one of the best performers in Europe this season. In all competitions, the Belgian has 11 goals and six assists so far this term, with three goals and two assists coming in the league during November. It was a great month for Hazard’s side Borussia Monchengladbach, winning all three of their games, taking them up to second in the table.
Left midfielder Hazard’s 81 overall could improve to an 87 Player of the Month rating if he claims the award. His base card costs just 750 coins on PS4 and 800 on Xbox One in Ultimate Team, with an 84 RW in-form priced at 40,000 on PS4 and 43,500 on Xbox One.
Marco Reus (OVR 85 – POTM 89)
With one POTM award under his belt already this season, Marco Reus is back to his best. Now often playing in a free role behind the striker, the German is flourishing, with three goals and an assist coming during November. As the new captain of Borussia Dortmund, he has led Die Schwarzgelben to top of the Bundesliga, remaining unbeaten and with a seven-point gap over the rest of the field.
A second Player of the Month prize would take Reus’s 85 overall all the way to 89, and like his September prize, his left midfield position should move to attacking midfield. His base card costs 35,000 coins on PS4 and 33,000 on Xbox One, whilst his Champions League 86 item is worth 177,000 on PS4 and 175,000 on Xbox One. An 86 CAM in-form will set you back 420,000 on PS4 and 361,000 on Xbox One, with an 87 in-form priced at 409,000 on Xbox One, 363,000 on Xbox One.
Luka Jovic (OVR 75 – POTM 83)
Luka Jovic was in the running for the Player of the Month award in October, and perhaps his consistency could give him a greater chance of claiming the prize this time around. This month, the Eintracht Frankfurt striker scored two goals and added a further two assists, taking his side to fifth in the table. The Serbian now has 15 goals in 17 games so far this term.
Jovic’s 75 base card could rise to an 83 rating if he takes the prize, and you can claim his gold item in Ultimate Team for just 550 coins on PS4 and 600 on Xbox One. 23,000 coins on both consoles will be enough to take his 81 in-form item from TOTW 6.
Sebastien Haller (OVR 78 – POTM 83)
Sticking with Eintracht strikers, it was also a great month for Sebastien Haller, who is forming a deadly partnership with Jovic. The Frenchman scored three himself in November and picked up an assist, taking his tally for the season to 11 goals and 10 assists in 20 games across all competitions.
Haller’s 78 overall is also likely to rise to 83 if he takes the prize, and you can pick up his base card for just 700 coins on both consoles in Ultimate Team.
Jean-Philippe Mateta (OVR 71 – POTM 81)
Jean-Philippe Mateta may be an outsider for the month’s award, but the Mainz man could become the second silver rated player to shock the league and claim it. The striker scored three times as Die Nullfunfer played four times in November, netting in the victories against Werder Bremen, Freiburg and Fortuna Dusseldorf, taking his club up to tenth in the table.
Mateta may only be rated 71, but this should climb to at least 81 if he does pick up the Player of the Month prize. You can claim his silver base card for 3,100 coins on PS4 and 2,500 on Xbox One.
