Joshua Kimmich (OVR 85 – POT 88)
Age: 23
Positions: RB, CM, CB, CDM
Club: Bayern Munich
Country: Germany
Work rate: High/Low
Best stats: 90 crossing, 85 short passing, 85 stamina
Cost: £61.5 million (release clause)
Wage: £81,000 a week
Joshua Kimmich isn’t hanging around, with the 23-year-old already one of the finest right backs on the planet. The Bayern Munich star has transitioned over from a midfielder, showing great adaptability being able to play as central and defensive midfielder and centre back.
Kimmich’s superb 85 overall can continue to improve to an 88 potential, with his best stats his 90 crossing, 85 short passing and 85 stamina. The German international will be pricey though, and you will need to match his £61.5 million release clause and improve his £81,000 a week wages to sign him.
Alvaro Odriozola (OVR 80 – POT 88)
Age: 22
Positions: RB
Club: Real Madrid
Country: Spain
Work rate: High/Medium
Best stats: 83 marking, 82 sprint speed, 81 crossing
Cost: £36.6 million (release clause)
Wage: £110,000 a week
Another superb right back, Alvaro Odriozola is already a Spain international and signed for Real Madrid in a £27 million deal. The 22-year-old impressed for Real Sociedad over a season and a half before making the move to Madrid, and if he continues this rate of development, it won’t be long before he leapfrogs Dani Carvajal (OVR 84) in the Galacticos starting lineup.
£36.6 million and wages of £110,000 a week will get you Odriozola, but you will need to wait until January to make a move for the new signing. Abilities of 83 marking, 82 sprint speed and 81 crossing take him to an 80 overall which can rise to an 88 potential.
Hector Bellerin (OVR 80 – POT 85)
Age: 23
Positions: RB, RWB
Club: Arsenal
Country: Spain
Work rate: High/Low
Best stats: 94 sprint speed, 91 acceleration, 82 agility
Cost: £28.7 million (release clause)
Wage: £80,000 a week
Hector Bellerin was the best young right back last year, but he stalled in a difficult campaign for Arsenal. The new signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner (OVR 80) for the Gunners suggests they no longer have full faith in Bellerin who has struggled since making his only three appearances for Spain in 2016.
The pacey Bellerin has abilities of 94 sprint speed, 91 acceleration and 82 agility to give him an 80 overall. This can improve to a potential of 85, meaning the 23-year-old will cost £28.7 million and wages of £80,000 a week.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (OVR 78 – POT 88)
Age: 19
Positions: RB
Club: Liverpool
Country: England
Work rate: High/Medium
Best stats: 83 crossing, 82 acceleration, 79 sprint speed
Cost: £25.3 million (release clause)
Wage: £41,000 a week
A man who is so young he also appears on our best wonderkids, Trent Alexander-Arnold had a crazy season for Liverpool last year. An injury in pre-season to Nathaniel Clyne (OVR 80) left Alexander-Arnold as Jurgen Klopp’s only out-and-out right back, and the 19-year-old took his chance. The defender went on to make 33 appearances for the club, starting the Champions League final and earned a spot on the plane to the 2018 World Cup with England.
Alexander-Arnold has all the tools to be top class right back with stats of 83 crossing, 82 acceleration and 79 sprint speed. Those abilities take his overall rating to 78, rising to a potential of 88. A £25.3 million release clause is a reasonable price for the talented youngster, with wages of £41,000 a week.
Pablo Maffeo (OVR 78 – POT 86)
Age: 21
Positions: RWB, RM
Club: Stuttgart
Country: Spain
Work rate: Medium/Medium
Best stats: 87 acceleration, 84 balance, 82 agility
Cost: £21.7 million (release clause)
Wage: £23,000 a week
Pablo Maffeo looked to be one of many young Manchester City stars coming through, but the Spaniard success over three years on loan at Girona earned him a switch to German side Stuttgart. It’s a big test for the right wing back or right midfielder but given he has progressed his way up to Spanish U21 level, expect him to continue to improve.
Stats of 87 acceleration, 84 balance and 82 agility take Maffeo to a 78 overall, with a potential of 86. You can sign him for £21.7 million in January with wages of £23,000 a week.
Kenny Tete (OVR 78 – POT 83)
Age: 22
Positions: RB
Club: Lyon
Country: Holland
Work rate: Medium/High
Best stats: 86 sliding tackle, 81 standing tackle, 80 aggression
Cost: £17 million
Wage: £43,000 a week
Kenny Tete joined Lyon from Ajax at the start of the season, and had a strong first campaign in France, making 31 appearances. The Dutch international notched five assists during that time, but is an old-school style full back, prioritising defence above attack, as shown by his FIFA 19 work rate.
Tete’s 78 overall can improve to a potential of 83, so his already strong stats of 86 sliding tackle, 81 standing tackle and 80 aggression still have room for improvement. You can look to buy him for around £17 million with a wage of £43,000 a week.
Davide Calabria (OVR 77 – POT 87)
Age: 21
Positions: RB
Club: AC Milan
Country: Italy
Work rate: Medium/Medium
Best stats: 83 agility, 81 acceleration, 81 stamina
Cost: £20.9 million (release clause)
Wage: £51,000 a week
This looks to be the season for Davide Calabria as he looks to announce himself in Serie A after a fantastic year in 2017/18. The 15-times capped Italian U21 international made 30 appearances under Gennaro Gattuso, looking to have won the right back battle over the more experienced Ignazio Abate.
83 agility, 81 acceleration and 81 stamina provide Calabria with a 77 overall rating which you can buy for £20.9 million and wages of £51,000 a week. He can improve to a world class 87 potential, making him a player you must consider.
Leo Dubois (OVR 77 – POT 84)
Age: 23
Positions: RB, LB
Club: Lyon
Country: France
Work rate: High/Medium
Best stats: 82 sliding tackle, 81 crossing, 80 standing tackle
Cost: £17 million
Wage: £43,000 a week
Three seasons as Nantes’ first choice right back with 13 assists (all coming in the final two campaigns) has earned Leo Dubois a move to French giants Lyon. He will look to challenge Kenny Tete for the starting spot, whilst also offering a rotation option in both full back positions for their return to Champions League action after a year away from the competition.
Right or left back Dubois has abilities of 82 sliding tackle, 81 crossing and 80 standing tackle on the game, taking his overall to 77. A potential of 84 will cost around £17 million with wages of £43,000 a week.
Benjamin Henrichs (OVR 76 – POT 84)
Age: 21
Positions: RB, LB, RM
Club: Monaco
Country: Germany
Work rate: High/Medium
Best stats: 79 crossing, 79 reactions, 78 acceleration
Cost: £17.6 million (release clause)
Wage: £41,000 a week
It was a surprise to see Benjamin Henrichs depart Bayer Leverkusen for Monaco for £18 million over the summer, with the German set to play out of his position at left back in the south of France. It could be a shrewd move by the Monegasques, with right back Djibril Sidibe (OVR 80) linked with a move away from the club.
With Henrichs just moving to Ligue 1, you will need to wait until January to sign the 21-year-old. The right or left back and right midfielder will cost you a £17.6 million release clause with wages of £41,000 a week, getting you his 76 overall and 84 potential. The German internationals best stats include 79 crossing, 79 reactions and 78 acceleration.
Fabricio Bustos (OVR 76 – POT 83)
Age: 22
Positions: RB, LB
Club: Independiente
Country: Argentina
Work rate: High/High
Best stats: 88 acceleration, 88 stamina, 84 sprint speed
Cost: £12.7 million (release clause)
Wage: £17,000 a week
Fabricio Bustos is already an Argentine international having delivered for club side Independiente. The 22-year-old has made 57 appearances for his club, winning the Copa Sudamericana in 2017. With Argentina turning over a new leaf after another disappointing tournament, expect Bustos to be at the forefront for the next few years.
The right or left back has abilities of 88 acceleration, 88 stamina and 84 stamina on the FIFA 19, giving him an overall rating of 76. This can improve to a potential of 83, costing you a £12.7 million release clause and wages of £17,000 a week wages.
