The end of the domestic season in Europe is on the horizon, with just a single round of fixtures in France, Italy and Spain before we call it a day. The English Premier League and Germany’s Bundesliga wrapped things up this last weekend, with Manchester City and Bayern Munich crowned champions.
The talent on show across Europe has been incredible, and the best players in the campaign have been rewarded with spots in FIFA 18’s various Teams of the Seasons for each division. The star players have received serious ratings boosts in Ultimate Team, but can they receive the top honour of appearing in the Ultimate Team of the Season? This is a combination of all the leagues to create the best team of the campaign.
RealSport predicts which 11 men could make up the starting lineup.
David de Gea (OVR 91 – TOTS 97)
There is no arguing that David de Gea is currently the best goalkeeper on the planet. Manuel Neuer’s injury has opened the door for De Gea to earn that title, and with his first ever Premier League Golden Glove award this season, you can see why the Manchester United stopper is so good. The Spaniard kept 18 clean sheets this season, but still had to make the fifth most amount of saves with 115.
De Gea’s 91 overall rating was boosted to 97 for the Premier League Team of the Season. His base card is priced at 161,000 coins on PS4 and 137,000 on Xbox One with a 94 European Man of the Match card will set you back 1.2 million on PS4 and 540,000 on Xbox One. A 97 Team of the Year item costs 945,000 on PS4 and 758,000 on Xbox One, and if you want De Gea’s 97 Team of the Season card, you will need 849,000 coins on PS4 and 760,000 on Xbox One.
Under threat from: Alisson (Roma)
Joshua Kimmich (OVR 84 – TOTS 93*)
Two seasons, few outside Germany had heard of Joshua Kimmich, but the 23-year-old is now being heralded as one of the best right backs in the world. The German international transitioned superbly from central midfield into the Bayern back four and has an eye for goal, scoring six goals in all competitions this season to go with his impressive 17 assists.
The Bundesliga Team of the Season is yet to be released, but if selected we expect Kimmich’s 84 overall rating to improve to an impressive 93. His base card is priced at 7,800 coins on PS4 and 7,300 on Xbox One in Ultimate Team, with an 88 Team of the Group Stage item costing 100,000 on PS4 and 94,500 on Xbox One.
Under threat from: Kyle Walker (Manchester City)
Naldo (OVR 84 – TOTS 92*)
A big call here, but due to Naldo’s impressive goal scoring record from the centre of defence for Schalke, he’s made our Ultimate Team of the Season. The Brazilian has scored seven goals in a strong campaign for Schalke, helping the Gelsenkirchen club finish second in the Bundesliga.
Those goals make Naldo a shoo-in for the Bundesliga Team of the Season, where his 84 overall rating could travel to 92. His base card costs 8,500 coins on PS4 and 7,800 on Xbox One, whilst his 88 third in-form item is valued at 125,000 on PS4 and 135,000 on Xbox One.
Under threat from: Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)
Jordi Alba (OVR 87 – TOTS 93)
Jordi Alba is back in the frame for being named best left back in the world. Barcelona’s switch to a narrow 4-4-2 for much of this season gave Alba the licence to get forward and provide the width on the left side. As a result, the Spaniard picked up 12 assists in all competitions as Barcelona cruised to the La Liga title.
Alba’s 87 overall rating was boosted to 93 for the La Liga Team of the Season. You can claim his base card for 36,500 coins on PS4 and 35,000 on Xbox One, with his 88 in-form costing 175,000 coins on PS4 and 290,000 on Xbox One. An 88 left wing FUT Birthday item is valued at 93,000 coins on PS4 and 98,000 on Xbox One, with the 93 Team of the Season card setting you back 350,000 coins on PS4 and 310,000 on Xbox One.
Under threat from: Alex Sandro (Juventus)
Mohamed Salah (OVR 85 – TOTS 98)
Perhaps the most in-form player in Europe this season. Mohamed Salah broke the Premier League record for a 38-game season with 32 goals, adding to his total of 44 goals in all competitions this season. No silverware has come the Liverpool man’s way however, but that could all change with the Champions League next week.
Salah has been the Ultimate Team king this season, with no fewer than 13 different cards on FIFA 18. The Egyptian’s base card costs 21,500 coins on PS4 and 21,250 on Xbox One with his 91 in-form priced at 423,000 coins on PS4 and 525,000 on Xbox One. His 91 live Ones to Watch item will set you back 390,000 coins on PS4 and 355,000 on Xbox One, and his Premier League Team of the Season card is valued at 1.2 million on PS4 and 1.1 million on Xbox One.
Under threat from: Florian Thauvin (Marseille)
Kevin De Bruyne (OVR 91 – TOTS 96)
The only significant challenger for Salah in the Premier League Player of the Year prize was Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian was the driving force of the record-breaking Manchester City side this season, who became the first team to break the 100-point barrier in a Premier League campaign. Attacking turned central midfielder De Bruyne notched 21 assists in all competitions this season to go with 12 goals, making him the most creative player in Europe this term.
De Bruyne’s 91 overall rating improved to 96 for the Premier League Team of the Season, and you can claim his base card for around 94,000 coins on both consoles. A 93 Team of the Group Stage item costs 350,000 coins on PS4 and 750,000 on Xbox One, with his 96 Team of the Year card priced at 939,000 on PS4 and over 1 million on Xbox One. As for De Bruyne’s 96 Team of the Season item, you will need 909,000 on PS4 and 859,000 on Xbox One.
Under threat from: Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (Lazio)
James Rodriguez (OVR 86 – TOTS 95*)
James Rodriguez may have endured a slow start to his Bayern Munich career, but the Colombian’s impressive performances make him one of the front runners for the Bundesliga Player of the Year prize. Rodriguez has racked up 14 assists this season to go with his eight goals as Bayern Munich claimed the Bundesliga title one again and prepare for the German Cup final on Saturday.
Rodriguez’s superb debut season in Germany should see his 86 overall rating improve to 95. His base card is priced at 16,250 on PS4 and 18,500 on Xbox One, with an 88 in-form setting you back 76,000 coins on PS4 and 89,500 on Xbox One. Rodriguez’s 88 live Ones to Watch item costs 70,000 coins on PS4 and 78,500 on Xbox One.
Under threat from: Nabil Fekir (Lyon)
Neymar (OVR 92 – TOTS 97*)
Not an automatic selection, but Neymar’s slightly surprising Ligue 1 Player of the Year award probably means he will get into the Team of the Season. The world’s most expensive player was reduced to just 20 Ligue 1 games through injury, but the fact he scored 19 goals and bagged 15 assists in that time is scary. Add to that four domestic trophies and it’s been a very good maiden campaign for Neymar in France.
The left winger’s 92 rating on Ultimate Team is likely to improve to 97 to match his SBC Ligue 1 Player of the Year card. His 92 base card costs 142,000 coins on PS4 and 120,000 on Xbox One, with a 95 in-form priced at 759,000 coins on PS4 and 740,000 on Xbox One. Neymar’s 95 live Ones to Watch item will set you back 715,000 coins on PS4 and 800,000 on Xbox One.
Under threat from: Leon Bailey (Bayer Leverkusen)
Lionel Messi (OVR 93 – TOTS 98)
You almost don’t need to put a case forward for why Lionel Messi should be in the Ultimate Team of the Season. The Barcelona supernova is the highest scoring player in Europe this season with 34 goals, coming in just 35 games during Barcelona’s La Liga winning season. It’s 45 goals in all competitions for the Argentine, who shows no signs of letting up at the age of 30.
Messi’s 93 rating improved to a ridiculous 98 for the La Liga Team of the Season. His base card is valued at 320,000 coins on PS4 and 300,000 on Xbox One, with a 96 European Man of the Match item costing 1.2 million on PS4 and 1.1 million on Xbox One. Messi’s 98 right wing Team of the Year card costs 2.1 million on PS4 and 2.8 million on Xbox One, with his new 98 striker Team of the Season rating priced at 2.2 million on PS4 and 2.4 million on Xbox One.
Under threat from: Luis Alberto (Lazio)
Harry Kane (OVR 88 – TOTS 95)
Despite hitting 30 Premier League goals for the first time, it wasn’t enough for Harry Kane to overthrow Mohamed Salah in the Premier League Golden Boot race. This season supported claims that Kane is now the best conventional number nine in the world, but where the England talisman is heading next is the big question.
Kane’s 88 overall rating increased to 95 for the Premier League Team of the Season, and you can get the Tottenham striker’s base card for 30,000 coins on PS4 and 28,000 on Xbox One. A 91 in-form costs 235,000 coins on PS4 and 650,000 on Xbox One with Kane’s new 95 Team of the Season card costing 410,000 on PS4 and 404,000 on Xbox One. His Team of the Year card is higher rated at 96, for which you will need 612,000 on Xbox One and 575,000 on Xbox One.
Under threat from: Ciro Immobile (Lazio)
Cristiano Ronaldo (OVR 94 – TOTS 99)
Last but not least is Cristiano Ronaldo. Despite a poor first half of the campaign, CR7 showed class is permanent by going on to bag 25 goals in La Liga, and 43 in all competitions. Despite that, it will still be a disappointing campaign if Real Madrid do not claim a third successive Champions League title next week.
Ronaldo’s base card is priced at 780,000 coins on PS4 and 695,000 on Xbox One, and a 95 right wing FUT Birthday item will set you back 1.5 million on PS4 and 1.2 million on Xbox One. The Portuguese’s 97 striker European Man of the Match card costs 4 million coins on PS4 and 2.1 million on Xbox One, and for his 99 Team of the Year item you will need 3.9 million on PS4 and 5.1 million on Xbox One. As for his new La Liga Team of the Season card, you are looking at a price of 4.7 million on PS4 and 5.6 million on Xbox One.
Under threat from: Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)
