FIFA 18: Team of the Year (TOTY) predictions

As a new year begins, it’s time to look back on the year just gone. 2017 provided some superb footballing stories, with Real Madrid the undoubted kings. Los Blancos picked up a 12th Champions League, and managed to overcome rivals Barcelona for the first time in five years to claim the La Liga title.

In England, a reinvigorated Chelsea side stormed to the Premier League title, and it was business as usual in Italy as Juventus won a sixth-straight Serie A crown. Things weren’t quite as easy in the Bundesliga, and although Bayern Munich did eventually run away with the title, newly promoted side RB Leipzig were the shock team in Europe last season.

Over in France, Monaco became the first side in five years to come rivals Paris Saint-Germain to win Ligue 1, causing the Parisians to go on a summer spending spree, changing the face of the transfer market in the process.

In all those successes there were some top performers throughout the year, meaning the positions in the FIFA Ultimate Team: Team of the Year will be hotly contested. Who are you backing to make the XI?

Who picks the Team of the Year?

For the first time in FIFA history, the Team of the Year will be voted from people from the media, athletes and members of the EA Sports FIFA community. Those lucky enough to vote, will receive a ballot box filled with all the cards from the players on the shortlist. They will then arrange their side in a 4-3-3 formation, and post the XI on social media with the tag #TOTYVote by January 12.

60% of the final vote will be accounted for by this group, with the final 40% cast by EA Sports themselves.
