As we approach the heart of the season, teams are really hitting their stride. In the Premier League Manchester City showed no sign of letting up with a calm 3-1 victory over Arsenal, while Everton finally ended their bad run of form with a thrilling 3-2 comeback against Watford. There are signs that Real Madrid are getting back on track, with a comfortable 3-0 win over Las Palmas. In France, the PSG train mowed down Angers 5-0, with Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani grabbing two goals each.
With much to ponder, we try to predict who will make FIFA 18’s Team of the Week. The side will be announced on Wednesday at 6pm GMT, and can be challenged on Ultimate Team with the players found in packs for the next seven days.
Stefano Sorrentino (OVR 79 – 82)
Chievo Verona goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino made five saves as his side hung on for a 0-0 draw against Serie A table toppers Napoli. Chievo become just the second team to avoid defeat to Napoli this season, with Inter Milan also holding them to a 0-0 draw last month.
The 38-year-old Sorrentino’s clean sheet should see him increase by three from 79 to 82 this week. He's a very cheap option in Ultimate Team, currently costing 400 coins on PS4 and 500 on Xbox One.
Steve Cook (OVR 77 – 81)
Bournemouth’s long trip to Newcastle looked set to be a stalemate, with both sides missing their chances. Cherries centre back Steve Cook had other ideas, popping up in the 92nd minute to head home a corner and earn a much-needed three points for Eddie Howe’s side.
Cook’s winner and clean sheet should take him to an in form rating in the 80s this week, and we are predicting a four point rise to 81. The English defender currently costs around 400 coins on both consoles.
Alessio Romagnoli (OVR 79 – 81)
It’s been a tough season for AC Milan thus far, with their new signings struggling to gel. Centre back Alessio Romagnoli was on hand to get things back on track, with the centre back opening the scoring in the 2-0 win over Sassuolo. The Italian’s header from Hakan Calhanoglu’s corner has brought Milan up to seventh place, but still at least nine points off a Champions League place, with fourth placed Lazio having a game in hand.
Romagnoli’s goal should see him creep in to the 80 ratings, with a rise of two to 81 the most likely. The left footed 22-year-old will set you back 700 coins on both consoles.
Leighton Baines (OVR 82 – 83)
Another side who have pumped in the cash for little reward is Everton. 65 minutes into the Toffees’ clash with Watford, Everton were deep in the relegation zone, but Caretaker Manager’s David Unsworth substitutions changed the game. They fought back to 2-2, and experienced left back Leighton Baines stroked a penalty home to claim the three points for his side, with former Evertonian Tom Cleverley missing a spot kick in the 99th minute.
England international Baines should expect an increase of one this week to 83. The defender will set you back around 2,000 FUT coins on both consoles.
Iago Aspas (OVR 83 – 86)
Iago Aspas is a completely different animal to the one seen at Liverpool a few seasons ago. The right winger bagged two more goals for Celta Vigo in the 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao at the weekend, taking his tally to six goals for the season.
The Spanish international has already received a TOTW appearance this season, so it's likely he'll increase by three to 86 this week if selected. His normal 83 card will set you back 1,600 coins on both consoles.
