Right back is perhaps the weakest position in world football at the moment with the likes of Philipp Lahm and Dani Alves on the decline. So instead of hunting around for the best, there is at the minute on FIFA 17 Career Mode, why not look to the future and pick up a right back wonderkid with barrels of potential. RealSport gives you the top 10 young right backs in FIFA 17.
Hector Bellerin (OVR 79 – POT 87)
With Barcelona lacking an out-and-out right-back at the moment, all signs point to Hector Bellerin moving back to his former club at some point in the near future. The Arsenal man burst onto the scene in 2014 and hasn’t looked back. The 21-year quickly eclipsed other right backs Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson and Calum Chambers, and his place in the team couldn’t be more solid. With 96-rated acceleration, 94 sprint speed and 84 agility, it won’t be long before he is a regular in the Spanish national side as well. To sign him on Career Mode you will be spending around £20 million, as well as £36,000 per week for wages.
Joao Cancelo (OVR 79 – POT 86)
If you’re looking for a man to cover every position on the right side, Valencia’s Joao Cancelo delivers. The 22-year-old Portuguese can play right back, right wing and right midfield, and there is no question he would be able to play right wing-back as well. He holds 90 acceleration, 88 sprint speed as well as 81 crossing, dribbling & shot power. The versatile Cancelo will cost you over £23 million as well as £36,000 for wages.
Ricardo Pereira (OVR 79 – POT 85)
Given his potential of 85, it is surprising FC Porto have let Ricardo Pereira go out on loan to OGC Nice. The 22-year-old can play right or left back, as well as a right wing-back. He is another speed merchant with 88 acceleration, 88 sprint speed and 84 agility as well as possessing the ‘early crosser’ trait. The Portuguese will cost you around £15 million if Nice don’t decide to keep him. He has incredibly low wages of £720, but expect his demands to be significantly more than Javier Manquillo (OVR 77 – POT 85).
Tin Jedvaj (OVR 75 – POT 85)
Tin Jedvaj made a great start to life at Bayer Leverkusen, and he was quickly being tipped to be one of the best defenders in the world for years to come. But his career has stalled slightly and he’s been limited to just five appearances for the club this season. He still only 20 and still has barrels of potential, which FIFA 17 has honoured. The right or centre back has 83-rated aggression, 81 jumping and 78 marking on the game, and you could sign him for around the £12 million mark. His wages cost £25,000 a week.
Mitchell Weiser (OVR 76 – POT 84)
Germany keeps producing young talent, and it is no different in the right back department. Mitchell Weiser was a regular for Hertha Berlin last season, making 33 appearances as a right back or right midfielder. The 22-year-old has 84 acceleration, 83 agility and 81 dribbling on FIFA 17, and he could be yours for £10 million in Career Mode. His wages of £14,000 make him one of the cheaper options in our Top 10.
Aritz Elustondo (OVR 76 – POT 84)
Aritz Elustondo is a more old-fashioned full back than most, as he relies on his defending rather than pace to help him thwart opponents. The 22-year-old right or centre back has 81 stamina, 79 sliding tackles and 78 marking on FIFA 17, making him a tough defender to get past. He will cost around £13 million and his current wages are only £720.
Nelson Semedo (OVR 76 – POT 84)
It seems after Portugal’s Euro 2016 success they have heaps of talent at their disposal, and that’s no different for Benfica’s Nelson Semedo. The 22-year-old right back is now establishing himself as a regular for the Portuguese champions, making 10 appearances already this season. He holds great pace with 91 sprint speed, 86 acceleration and 85 agility as well 85 stamina. You should look to sign him for over £16 million and £32,000 wages.
Lukas Klostermann (OVR 72 – POT 84)
East German football is enjoying a renaissance thanks to the great start to the season of RB Leipzig. 20-year-old Lukas Klostermann is amongst their top talent coming through, and displayed his talent at the Rio Olympics with Germany, claiming a silver medal. Those performances have seen his overall and potential increase on FIFA 17 with his top attributes sprint speed (91), acceleration (84) and jumping (84). He can be yours in Career Mode for as little as £5 million, with his wages only £3,000 a week.
Felix Passlack (OVR 67 – POT 84)
Despite only playing three games for Borussia Dortmund last season, Felix Passlack has been tipped by the powers that be at EA Sports to go on do great things. He is finding himself on the bench at Borussia Dortmund at the moment, and he is sure to pick up more appearances as this season progresses. The 18-year-old right back, right midfielder or left back has 86-rated balance as well as 77 acceleration and 76 stamina on FIFA 17. He has three years remaining on his contract with a value of £900,000, meaning you should be able to sign him for about £4 million, with £2,000 wages.
