Far Cry 6 is loaded with things to do. Hunt down bases, beat up chickens, find buried treasure - they're all good ways of spending your time. If you want something a little more relaxed, Far Cry 6's fishing has you covered. Here's what we know about how to fish in Far Cry 6 and what we recommend doing to catch your first fish.
Fishing Upgrades
There are three main things you can upgrade in your tackle box. The first is your lure. This is the least obvious upgrade path and really depends on what you're looking for. The alluring lure is your best bet if you want to catch something rare.
The reel socket increases how tired you make the fish as you catch it. If you want to shorten that battle as you fish, this is your best choice.
The fishing line socket affects how strong your line is. If it's too weak, you may lose it before you catch the fish. You will need industrial circuits to fully upgrade this. For that reason, upgrading incrementally isn't a bad choice.
How Does It Work?
Fishing is an activity you can technically do anywhere by using the weapon wheel and equipping it. That being said, there are places the game advises you to start this mini-game.
As you walk around Yara, you will find small icons with worms on them. This is the tackle box. You can upgrade your rod here.
How to Fish in Far Cry 6
Fishing is fairly easy. Just throw out your line and slowly reel it in. The controller will start to rumble as the fish bite. Hook them with the on-screen controls and reel in the line further.
You simply have to push your rod in the opposite direction the fish is moving to tire it out. Eventually, you will pull it close enough for Dani to automatically pick it up. Congratulations, you've caught your first fish. You can upgrade the fishing hut at a base to get better gear and find even better spots.
