The 2019 Formula 1 season is well underway, with the paddock set up in Bahrain ahead of this weekends race. For fans of the sport this is the most exciting time of the year, and for gamers it usually means it's time to log more hours on the track. But while F1 2018 is still entertaining fans, Codemasters shocked everyone by announcing the F1 2019 game yesterday.
Let's start with the headline news that this years offering will hit the shelves a full two months earlier than usual. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox, and PC on June 28th, the same weekend as the Austrian Grand Prix. This is excellent news for players that have already mastered career mode and dominated their friends online.
“We are absolutely delighted to be able to release F1 2019 earlier in the Formula 1 Season, so that the game can be played and enjoyed at the same time that the real-world championship picture is starting to form,” said Paul Jeal, F1 Franchise Director at Codemasters. “Our close relationship with Formula 1 has played a major part in achieving this key objective for the franchise. That in addition to our near two-year development cycle, has allowed us to develop some exciting new features and other firsts for the franchise that we can’t wait to share with our community in the coming months.”
That close relationship has included working with F1 legends Ross Brawn and Pat Symonds to develop a car that is in line with the 2019 regulation changes and should provide the most realistic driving experience to date.
