eSports Boxing Club continues to build anticipation for the title's eventual release, and that includes adding to an already impressive roster.
The dozens of names already confirmed for eSports Boxing Club will now be joined by boxing champion Canelo Álvarez.
Canelo Alvarez joins eSports Boxing Club
Previous reveals for eSports Boxing Club have added tons of new names to the game's massive roster of current and former boxing greats, but this time the full focus was on newly added boxer Canelo Álvarez.
Canelo Álvarez is fresh off a victory on May 8, 2021 when he defeated Billy Joe Saunders to retain the WBA (Super), WBC, and The Ring super middleweight titles along with winning the WBO super middleweight championship.
The reveal called Álvarez "the face of boxing," and it's not a farfetched moniker considering his nearly untouchable 56-1-2 record throughout 59 fights.
Canelo Álvarez may be the ESBC cover star
While the focus of the video seemed to be on the fact that Canelo Álvarez will be joining the roster for eSports Boxing Club, he also may end up the ESBC cover athlete.
The end of the video stated "the face of boxing is now the face of the boxing video game," and the final frame appearing to show a mock-up of the game's cover with Álvarez as the central focus.
While eSports Boxing Club didn't mention the cover in the description on YouTube or posts about it on Twitter, and chose not to label this a cover reveal, it definitely looks like that's what the video was saying.
The release date for eSports Boxing Club is still unknown, but the title is expected to land on multiple platforms later in 2021, and they may end up revealing more soon at E3 2021.
