Gareth Bale could be set for ICON card in EA Sports FC

Wales legend Gareth Bale has confirmed his retirement from football in an emotional post on social media.

The former Real Madrid star has called an end to his illustrious career which saw him win five Champions Leagues, three LaLigas and three Club World Cups.

So, could we see Bale return to Ultimate Team in EA Sports FC as an Icon?

Living legend

Bale began his professional career at Southampton, playing as a left-back and earning acclaim as a free-kick specialist.

He moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2007, where managerial and tactical shifts saw him transform into a more attacking player.

The Welsh international went on to become one of the best players the Premier League has seen, becoming just the third person in history to be crowned PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in the same season.

His performances in North London would later earn him a world record move to Real Madrid for £85.3 million in 2013.

ICONIC STANCE - Bale was always lethal over a set piece

In his first season at the club, Bale contributed 22 goals in all competitions as he helped Madrid lift their first Champions League title in over a decade.

The Welshman would go on to win four more UCL titles, making him one of the most decorated players of all time.

The Real Madrid legend's iconic goal in the Copa Del Rey final goes down as one of the greatest in the competition's history.

His best moment in a Madrid shirt came years later, during the 2018 Champions League final.

He scored two on the day including a breathtaking bicycle kick-winning goal - arguably the greatest goal in Champions League history.

EA Sports FC Icon

So, with all of that in mind, the 33-year-old could be rated among some of the best Icons in EA Sports FC Ultimate Team.

The Welshman's Prime Icon version could reach 93 OVR and would no doubt be one of the most overpowered cards in the entire game.

94 pace, 92 shooting, 91 dribbling and 89 passing along with four-star skill moves and a four-star weak foot could make for an incredible item.

ALL TIME GREAT - Bale is right up there with the best of all time

Perhaps this rating is a little generous, but there is no denying that Bale deserves an Icon card in Ultimate Team.

Suggestions of the winger becoming a FUT Hero are absolutely absurd.

Gareth Bale is one of the greatest players of his generation and potentially the best British footballer of all time.
