Ever since the announcement of EA Sports College Football, fans have been clamoring for information about the former NCAA gaming franchise.

Newly leaked documents may finally give us some answers, but fans may be waiting quite some time for the release date of EA Sports College Football.

EA Sports College Football documents leaked

While things have been relatively quiet when it comes to EA Sports College Football, new reporting by Matt Brown of Extra Points has given us major insight into when the title could release.

Back in March, Brown had initially reported that "July of 2023" was targeted for the first installment of EA Sports College Football based on documents that had been acquired via open record request.

Now, Brown has acquired more information through copies of the documents that are less redacted, and they seem to confirm both a targeted release date and how many games are currently on the table.

FOUR YEARS: One big detail is that four years worth of games are in the works

On top of a potential release window, this leaked contract confirms that EA Sports College Football 24 should be just the beginning, with three subsequent releases already planned.

EA Sports College Football release date is still years away

Unfortunately, these new documents further confirm that fans will have to wait at least two more years to get a newly released college football video game.

EA Sports College Football 24 looks likely to be released on July 1, 2023, and looking at the history of college football video games certainly seems to back that up.

EA Sports first released Bill Walsh College Football for Sega Genesis, Sega CD, and SNES back in 1993, with the yearly model beginning one year later as Bill Walsh College Football '95 was released on June 1, 1994.

THE ORIGINAL: From the designers of Madden Football!

There was a direct connection to Madden right from the beginning, with the first release even branding itself as "from the designers of Madden Football."

The series rebranded as College Football USA 96 for the 1995 release, and finally found their groove with NCAA Football 99 which carried that naming convention all the way to the release of NCAA Football 14.

The series has released almost exclusively in June or July each year when it was active, and releasing on July 1, 2023 would perfectly celebrate three decades since the series began.

There's also a chance they could go with another date in July of that year, and delays could still happen, but right now that release window looks pretty concrete with other games already planned.
