EA's FIFA 23 World Cup mode predicts dismal England performance

EA's World Cup mode is finally set to be released in FIFA 23 on Wednesday, 9 November.

Ahead of the update, EA has released results from a simulated tournament, and it is bad news for England fans.

Previous simulations have panned out pretty accurately too with EA correctly predicting the last three winners!

Dismal England

Despite boasting a squad filled with young stars, England is set for an early exit in Qatar, according to EA's simulation.

While England did progress through the group, they did not do so as winners, leading them to a tougher draw in the Last 16.

UNDER PERFORMING - EA has predicted a poor showing from the Three Lions

Instead, the USA topped Group B, and England was left to rely on a late Jude Bellingham goal to rescue a point for them against Wales to scrape through.

Gareth Southgate's men were then dumped out in the next round as they fell 3-1 to the Netherlands, while the USA beat Senegal to advance to the Quarter-Finals.

Magical Messi

One of the big talking points from the simulation is Argentina claiming the World Cup, thanks in no small part to the brilliance of Lionel Messi.

He had already produced a moment of brilliance in the Quarter-Finals that saw Argentina get the better of the Netherlands in a 1-0 victory, with the side beating current holders France in the Semi-Finals in another game that ended 1-0.

MINI MAGICIAN - EA have predicted the Messi will have an unbelievable World Cup

That left the title to be decided between two South American teams, with Argentina meeting Brazil.

With the whole world watching, Messi once again took centre stage, producing the only goal of the game to clinch the one big trophy his cabinet is still missing!

That saw him finish as the Golden Boot winner of the tournament, with eight goals, and he also claimed the Golden Ball, awarded to the best player of the tournament.

FIFA 23 World Cup Prediction

There were few shocks in the Group Stage, although Korea Republic progressing from Group H ahead of Uruguay and Ghana is unexpected.

The Last 16 plays out as you may expect too, with the exception of 2018 runners-up Croatia beating Spain 2-1.

A dream run for the USA was ended in the Quarter-Finals by France, while Brazil exacted some revenge on Germany with a comfortable 3-0 win to make it to the Semi-Finals.

SHOWDOWN - Is this how the World Cup will play out?

The Semi-Finals were a tight and cagey affair with just one goal scored across the two games as a Messi-inspired Argentina beat France, while Brazil knocked out Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal on penalties.

2022 looks set to be Messi's year though, and his winning goal secured World Cup glory for Argentina as they beat rivals Brazil 1-0 in the Final.
