Cold Iron Studios' upcoming release - Aliens Fireteam Elite - looks like the Alien game fans have wanted for a long time. Alien Isolation was decent, but Colonial Marines fell flat when tasked with offering a more action-packed take on the franchise. It wasn't the worst, but Ridley Scott's iconic franchise deserves more. Aliens Fireteam Elite looks like it's doing just that and we've got everything you need to know about crossplay features and bringing your Fireteam together for this Elite experience.
Does Fireteam Elite have crossplay features?
Sadly, it doesn't look like Aliens Fireteam Elite is going to have crossplay features - ever.
Cold Iron Studios' Craig Zinkievich has stated that Aliens Fireteam Elite will not support crossplay features - However, you can matchmake cross-generation. This means PlayStation 4 players can matchmake with PlayStation 5 players, but not Xbox One players. Essentially, you're limited to your console family.
Zinkievich told Gamespot...
"... there is currently no plan for cross-play at this time."
For a game that is designed specifically to be played with your friends, this is less than ideal. We're hoping it's going to be coming sooner or later, but we're not expecting to see crossplay features in Aliens Fireteam Elite anytime soon.
When does Fireteam Elite even come out?
Cold Iron Studios' Aliens Fireteam Elite is due to release on August 24th. If you were to pre-order it before then, you'll be able to get your hands on the following bonuses...
- Hardened Marine Pack (including Bandana Head Accessory)
- Digital Red Camo Weapon Color
- Three Weapon Decals
- “Chestburster” Joke Emote
In addition to this, the Digital Deluxe version of Aliens Fireteam Elite comes with the Endeavor Veteran Pack and the first four Season Passes. This is going to be almost double the price though, so we advise that you only get it if you're going to be playing a lot of Aliens Fireteam Elite.
