Michael Smith and Simon Whitlock are still the two surprise pace-setters in this year's Premier League, but with some of the favourites finding their feet in Newcastle the table is still awaiting to take its proper shape.
Let’s take a look at Thursday night’s action and how it may unfold…
Michael Smith vs Simon Whitlock - February 22, 19:15 (approx)
The top two in the Premier League put their unbeaten streaks on the line in the opener at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, Berlin. Whitlock's double hitting success has been exceptional so far; Smith's power-scoring has to be on point if he is to challenge the 'Wizard'. This match should ebb and flow, with the Australian's accuracy prevailing. Back a 7-5 or 7-4 win for Whitlock as Smith is found out. Back Smith to edge the 180 contest.
Prediction: Smith 5-7 Whitlock
Gerwyn Price vs Mensur Suljovic - February 22, 20:00 (approx)
Two of the three remaining players without a win, Price vs Suljovic is destined to be an edgy affair. The Austrian will have good support in Berlin, and having come across some outstanding performances by his opponents so far is playing much better than his tenth place suggests. Price will stay in this contest by outscoring 'Gentle' in the 180 race, but Suljovic's class should shine through as he wins it late. 7-5 looks tempting.
Prediction: Price vs 5-7 Suljovic
Michael van Gerwen vs Daryl Gurney - February 22, 20:45 (approx)
Gurney is struggling for momentum in his debut season in the Premier League; things aren't likely to get easier against the defending champion MVG. After his blip against Peter Wright in Cardiff, van Gerwen is back in beast mode and shouldn't struggle with Gurney's pomp. Gurney was on the verge of victory against Price last week and that is likely to contribute to struggles in Berlin. Back a 7-3 or 7-2 win for 'Mighty Mike'.
Prediction: MVG 7-3 Gurney
Rob Cross vs Raymond van Barneveld - February 22, 21:15 (approx)
Rob Cross got off the mark last Thursday in a win over the ill-tempered Peter Wright, averaging a comfortable 98. This form should continue as he faces the in-form but forever unpredictable Barney. Cross has looked to find his scoring again and should dominate the 180 race despite hitting just six in three weeks. The value is in backing Cross to notch up his second victory in a match that is likely to go all the way. Barney always has a big checkout in his locker, with the 170 worth a sniff.
Prediction: Cross 7-5 Barney
Peter Wright vs Gary Anderson - February 22, 22:00 (approx)
Both took 'Ls' in Newcastle at the hands of the previous two world champions; both are also more than capable of winning this trophy. With a 170 checkout last week Anderson's confidence will be high coming to Berlin. Anderson is the slight favourite and will relying on adding to his twelve 180s so far. This 180 race should be won by Anderson, but with cute finishing Wright will stay live in the contest. Back all twelve legs to be thrown with 'Snakebite' stealing a point late on in a 6-6 draw.
Prediction: Wright 6-6 Anderson
