With the likes of MLB The Show coming to Xbox and the lead designer of The Initiative going to Insomniac, there have been a few strange moves in the relationship between Xbox and PlayStation.
Some recent information may have just confirmed something much bigger — Sunset Overdrive on PlayStation.
Is Sunset Overdrive Coming to PlayStation?
If you are aware of the wondrous world of gaming leaks and rumours, there's a good chance you know who Nibel is.
They are infamous for digging up solid information and having connections with the biggest companies. If information comes from them, there's a good chance it's legitimate.
As you might have guessed, this is where our latest piece of information comes from. Over on Twitter, they announced their findings of a trademark on behalf of Sony.
This means that, even if they're not working on something, they have a reason to hold on to the name suggesting future announcements.
What Does This Trademark Mean?
This doesn't mean they're working on it right now but it shows intent. It also shines a light on an important piece of information. Insomniac have the right to do what they like with the property.
Unlike one might assume, the Xbox exclusive, Sunset Overdrive, is not owned by Xbox itself. Phil Spencer has mourned Sunset Overdrive in the past and wished it could have gotten a sequel. Maybe Sony can deliver?
What Does This Mean for Insomniac?
Since Sony's acquisition of Insomniac last year, they appear to have been hard at work on the new Ratchet and Clank game. You can check out all you need to know about that here.
That being said, after its release in June, they appear to have no major titles in the works. This could mean there's room for the return of a classic Xbox exclusive.
