Ever since the debut of the five original colorways in 1996, Nike has continually created new and unique designs which makes it hard to determine which Jordan 12 colorways are best.
While the classic "Flu Game" and "Taxi" designs remain fan favorites, we've picked out a few standout colorways from the more recent releases which, we think, elevate the excellent Jordan 12 silhouette.
From reimaged classics, like the 2021 "Reverse Flu Game" release, to Super Bowl-themed low-tops, we've rounded up the very best right here.
Best Jordan 12 Colorways
- Air Jordan 12 "Royalty"
- Air Jordan 12 "Reverse Flu Game"
- Air Jordan 12 "Twist"
- Air Jordan 12 Low “Super Bowl”
- Air Jordan 12 Low "Easter"
Best All-Round Jordan 12 Colorway - Air Jordan 12 "Royalty"
The "Royalty" Jordan 12 draws a lot of comparisons to the "Taxi" colorway released in the year MJ won his fifth NBA championship; however, we feel this 2021 release elevates the original design with some of its more subtle details.
For example, Nike added gold plaquettes along the lateral sides to match the metallic hook eyelets to accentuate the royalty theme.
The gold plaquettes sit on top of black overlays which completely contrast the white tumbled leather base to round off the two-tone design.
Ultimately, we feel the 2021 "Royalty" colorway is one of the best and most well-rounded Jordan 12 releases as of late which is why we've included it on our list.
Best Reimagined Jordan 12 Colorway - Air Jordan 12 "Reverse Flu Game"
When it comes to reimagining the classics, we feel the "Reverse Flu Game" release is up there as one of the best.
Nike took the vintage "Flu Game" and flipped it to create an excellent-looking pair of Jordan 12's that stick to the original Chicago Bulls colors.
What we particularly like about the "Reverse Flu Game" design is that the sneakers come with soft red suede uppers which are then contrasted by the faux-lizard print black mudguards.
It's also worth pointing out the 'Two 3' embroidery on the tongues which is a nice reference to MJ's playing career.
Best Looking Jordan 12 Colorway - Air Jordan 12 "Twist"
While looks are subjective, we feel you can't go wrong with a pair of white Jordan 12's which is why we've included the "Twist" colorway on our list.
What we like about this particular design is it incorporates Chicago's classic red and black colors to perfectly accent the white tumbled leather uppers.
You may also notice the red accents are metallic much like the gold details that dress the aforementioned "Royalty" colorway.
All in all, the simple but effective design of the "Twist" release is what, in our opinion, earns it a spot on our list.
Best Jordan 12 Low Colorway - Air Jordan 12 Low “Super Bowl”
Ahead of the Super Bowl LV, Nike went back to the "Flu Game" well for this special edition low-top release.
Rather than leather as per the originals, the “Super Bowl” colorway utilizes a black woven textile as the base which is then contrasted by red leather overlays around the mudguards.
Once again, you'll find metallic gold accents around the lateral sides and the eyelets, plus a confetti-themed print inside the shoes with the “813” Tampa Bay area code in ode to the hosts of that year's event.
On the whole, we feel the “Super Bowl” colorway is an excellent combination of new meets old with the "Flu Game" base mixing with a few more modern details.
Best Every Day Jordan 12 Colorway - Air Jordan 12 Low "Easter"
Continuing with the low-top theme, this "Easter" colorway looks a great choice for everyday wear thanks to the simple white leather uppers elevated by the icy blue, translucent outsoles.
Unsurprisingly, the design debuted around Easter in 2021 and kept much of the construction the same as some of the original Jordan 12 releases.
The sneakers also include black textile heel tabs and, to completely stand out from the rest of the color scheme, pink insoles.
Ultimately, we feel this is a color scheme that would fit most attires which is why we've included the "Easter" colorway on our list.
Frequently Asked Questions About Air Jordan 12's
With so many different colorways available, you may have a number of questions about Jordan 12's.
Don't worry though, because we're here to clear up a few of the most common queries.
What Are The Air Jordan 12's Made Of?
Depending on the colorway, Air Jordan 12's are usually constructed out of leather or suede, with the leather around the mudguards typically featuring a slightly rougher, bumpy texture.
Rubber then encapsulates the Nike Air technology in the sole units, something that applies to practically all the Air Jordan sneakers in existence.
Are Jordan 12's Comfortable?
We've previously gone into detail as to whether Jordan's are comfortable in general, but we didn't specifically talk about Jordan 12's.
First and foremost, it's worth noting that all Jordan's, including the 12's, feature Nike's Air technology in the midsoles which adds cushioning for increased comfort and support.
With that being said, one of the most important aspects for making sure your Jordan 12's are comfortable is to make sure you get the right fit right.
We'd recommend leaving about a finger's width of space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe as this will make sure your sneakers are bending in the correct place as it should align to the natural bend of your foot.
Should I Size Down In Jordan 12's?
Continuing with the comfort theme, it's widely regarded that all Jordan's fit true to size for both everyday wear and on the court action.
With that being said, you may find going a size up to be beneficial for playing in if you've got slightly wider feet as this should ensure your feet remain comfortable and supported, without feeling too restricted.
If you want to double-check then Nike usually has a handy size chart to compare the size of your feet to for a little extra peace of mind before you go ahead and purchase.
