Nintendo's E3 2021 Direct was where many fans expected to see Bayonetta 3 but this didn't end up happening. Instead, we managed to see a brand new trailer in the September Direct. Now that we have official confirmation, we just have to wait for the release date. This is what we know so far.

Latest - We may get a trailer tonight

At last, a brand new Nintendo Direct is on the way tonight. Said to be around 40 minutes long, it is said to mostly focus on games out in the first half of 2022.

This being said, it seems likely we may see a trailer or two for some games coming out in the future. Hopefully, the show will end on a big one.

Release Date

Bayonetta 3 has been confirmed to release in 2022, though no more specific release date has been given just yet.

A 2022 release would mean five years of development, which is quite a lot for any AAA game - and its quality showed through in the new gameplay trailer.

Launch With Switch Pro?

A tantalizing possibility is that Bayonetta 3 is being held for the launch of the rumoured Switch Pro hardware that is said to be announced this year.

That would explain the game's long development cycle if at a certain point they revised the title to take advantage of the increased horsepower provided by a hardware revision.

Either way, the game finally has a firm release date, and that should be enough to relieve fans after a very long four-year wait already.
