How to Drop Attachments in Back 4 Blood

Back 4 Blood is finally out and you can start taking on hordes of The Ridden to save humanity! One feature that caught a lot of players out during the beta phases is how to remove drop attachments from weapons.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as it could be and no changes have been made to this since the betas finished. We can help you out and tell you how to do it though!

How to Drop Attachments in Back 4 Blood

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to outright drop a weapon attachment in Back 4 Blood. That doesn't mean that you're stuck with whatever you first pick up though.

All weapons reset on a new run anyway but when you start adding attachments to your weapon, there's no way to outright remove them without attaching another.

This can lead to some split-second decisions being made on a run as you have to decide whether to drop your current attachments for new ones or stick with what you have. Fortunately, Back 4 Blood devs Turtle Rock knew this and you can see whether or not a new attachment will improve a weapon before you attach it.

Positive changes are what you're looking for but it's always a balancing act

Attachments can be found in crates throughout levels but can also be purchased in saferooms using and credits you have picked up. While it can be stressful to try and drop attachments in the middle of a run, it's always worth looking to see if they will improve your weapon or not.

Worst case scenario, if the attachment will just lower your weapons stats, throw out a ping and let your team know where it is because it might help one of them instead.

How to Inspect Attachments in Back 4 Blood

You can inspect your current attachments in the inventory menu. The firing range is a great way to work out which attachments work well with different weapons before you head out on a run as well.

It's possible that with enough feedback from the Open Beta, the ability to drop attachments could be added to Back 4 Blood before release. Be sure to mention it in the post-game feedback survey! If the feature to drop attachments is added to Back 4 Blood, it will likely be done from the inventory screen.
