On April 22nd, 2020, Animal Crossing released its 1.2.0 update.

What Do Fans Want to See?
Return of May Day & International Museum Day?
After the April update added more seasonal events last year, players got to experience May Day and International Museum Day events the following month (both of which returned in 2021).
More News: Nature Day in New Horizons
The May Day event took place from May 1-7, 2020, and consisted of giving players a plane ticket to visit a new island and enjoy the May Day maze.
International Museum Day was an event that took place for two weeks, running from May 18 to - May 31, 2020.
During this event, players had to collect stamps at various locations in the museum. After doing so, they would be able to speak to Blathers and receive an award. Unlike the May Day event, this event could be repeated every day during the two-week period.
Neither of these events are currently in the game for 2021. Fans can expect that these events or perhaps similar new ones will be added in for May during the April update.
New Characters?
Last year's April update for Animal Crossing New Horizons introduced to us two new characters: Leif and Redd. This year, Animal Crossing may choose to follow suit and introduce two completely new characters.
There are several characters from previous Animal Crossing games that are still missing in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Some possibilities might be:
Gracie
- Last seen on Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Nintendo 3DS), Gracie was the owner of a boutique that specialized in designer clothing.
Brewster
- Brewster is another missing character in New Horizons, greatly missed by fans, this somber pigeon ran the coffee shop in the basement of the museum.
Wendell
- Wendell is a character also last seen on the Nintendo 3DS, whose role changed throughout the series. Most recently in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Wendell would utilize the dream suite's feature.
Animal Crossing 20th Anniversary
April 14, 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the Animal Crossing franchise. While the exact date for the 20th anniversary has come and gone, 2021 could still be the year where fans see huge updates and exciting changes in the celebration of this milestone.
