Age Of Empires 4 Development Making "Great Progress" According To Microsoft

After being announced years ago and seeing a gameplay teaser in 2019, we now have an update on Age of Empires 4 (Age of Empires IV), specifically that development is progressing well.

In addition, the game is apparently being played right now by developers working on the RTS game.

Age of Empires 4 Development Update For PC

In a blog post on the game's website highlighting 2020 for the franchise, Shanon Loftis detailed some new info on Age of Empires 4 and what we can expect.

"We are making great progress on Age of Empires IV. I don’t want to make you jealous, but we are literally playing this game every single day—both in Washington and in Vancouver."

The fourth entry apparently feels like an Age of Empires game and the team at Relic Entertainment have been working with World's Edge on the title from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Age of Empires 4 is one of Microsoft Studios' only games coming to PC solely, although an Xbox release isn't impossible.

Age of Empires 4 has been in development for quite a while but Microsoft formed World's Edge to help development on the title, alongside releasing the definitive editions of the first three games on PC.

Back in October, Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition released on PC and was met with mostly positive reviews, with the game currently sitting at a 75 on Metacritic.

Whilst we haven't heard much about the game, it is great to know that development on Age of Empires 4 is progressing well and now that all three of the original games' definitive editions are out we can hopefully see development on the fourth entry progressing quickly.

Age of Empires 4 is set to only come to PC at the moment; however, there could be the possibility of an Xbox Series S/X release if the consoles are able to get mouse and keyboard support in time.
