The third and elusive Genshin Impact banner, Chronicled Wish, has finally returned in 5.3, more than a year since its first introduction in March 2024. Its specifis remain unchanged, and this time you can choose from a select pool of Liyue characters and weapons.
The previous one was so-so, but Liyue's Chronicled Wish is worth considering, as some characters and weapons are still competitive. Here are the ones we recommend going after and details on the banner.
Genshin Impact Chronicled Wish Banner Explained
In Chronicled Wish, a select few characters and weapons from a specific region are pooled together. The first-ever Chronicled banner in Genshin Impact featured Mondstadt and the 5.3 has Liyue characters.
Because multiple characters and weapons are available, you can select one specific character or weapon to target. It's similar to the weapon banner path, and selection can be made on the banner screen by clicking "Confirm Selection."
In terms of pity, it's the same as any other banner, with 90 wishes and a 50-50 in place.
Say you select Qiqi in the current version of the banner. At any point until 90 wishes, you can get either Qiqi or other 5-star units. The 90th one will be guaranteed to be a 5-star. In case you do not get your desired Qiqi in the 90 wishes, your next 90 will guarantee you Qiqi.

Is the Chronicled Wish Banner Worth it?
Generally, no, we do not recommend wishing on the banner unless there is a character or weapon you want. It's a better idea to wish for other limited rate-ups instead.
Yes, there are a couple of good weapons and characters, and some like Shenhe have taken far too long for reruns. But pity count is independent, so if you lose 50-50 and don't have many wishes remaining, you'll have to wait until the banner returns to salvage your guarantee. Who knows when it'll return next, and the coming one will certainly feature Inazuma characters and not Liyue.
Limited banner also has 50-50 but because it's frequent you can quickly use that pity on other new and good characters. Wish in the Chronicled banner only if you have at least 150 wishes and need that character or are chasing the best-in-slot weapon for your favourite unit.
Best Picks in Chronicled Wish Banner
Who you pick in the Genshin Impact Chronicled Wish banner depends on what you need and your account. If you need a DPS, Xiao and Tartaglia are the best picks. For dedicated Cryo support, go for Shenhe and Baizhu for Dendro shielder.
Tartaglia is a good pick because making a team for him is easy. Xiangling is free, and you most likely have Bennett. That's your core settled!
Xiao, meanwhile, needs an expensive team but has a higher ceiling. Ideally, you'll need Farzuna (C6) and/or Furina with Xianyun. Of course, it doesn't mean you cannot play him on other teams, but this team has one of the best damage outputs in the game.
We do not recommend any other characters outside of the four we mentioned. In terms of weapons, only Primordial Jade Cutter (sword), Polar Star (bow), and Primordial Jade Winged-Spear(polearm) are worth wishing for. The polearm and bow are best-in-slot for Tartaglia and Xiao, and the sword is a generalist weapon.
