WoW Dragonflight Alpha: Start Date, How to Sign Up, and What to Expect

The next World of Warcraft expansion, WoW Dragonflight, was announced at the start of this month.

As always with a new expansion, players get to test out the new content early via the Alpha and later the Beta. Fortunately for them, the Alpha has begun.

With that, here's everything we know about the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Alpha, including how to sign up, and what to expect.

LATEST - Alpha Testing Begins Now!

As of July 14, Dragonflight Alpha testing has begun.

In what Blizzard dubbed as "Phase One" it'll feature testing on the Azure Span zone, the Dracthyr race and its Evoker class, the new Dragonriding feature, new UI updates, and the talent revamps revealed until now, as well as Alchemy and Blacksmithing.

Dragonflight Alpha Start Date

Beginning with "Phase One," the Dragonflight Alpha has begun.

So far, we don't know how long the phase will last and how many more will be added.

This is really exciting news for WoW fans, however, it's worth noting that an official release date for the Beta has yet to be revealed prior and it could put a damper on an Alpha release.

How to Sign Up

Just like signing up for the Dragonflight Beta, if you want to take part in the Alpha you'll need to request access. This is possible via the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight website.

All you need to do is click on the "Beta Opt-In" button and it'll direct you to the bottom of the website, where you'll click again.

Once that's done a "Thanks for signing up" message will appear in green words, confirming that you've opted into the WoW Dragonflight beta on the account you've signed into.

What to Expect in the Dragonflight Alpha

So far there is plenty of content slated to join WoW once Dragonflight releases. Features such as the new race, the Dracthyr, and their class, the Evoker, Dragonriding, the new zone, Dragon Isles, and a new Talent System lead that charge so far.

However, WoW Alphas are usually as barebones as it gets when it comes to getting to try out a new expansion, this means that players with access to the Alpha can most likely expect some of these new features at a smaller scale, and others not at all.

Noting that this is Phase One of the Alpha, players in it will be able to explore the Azure Span zone, test Dracthyr and its class, the Evoker, fly around with Dragonriding, implement the new UI Interface updates, and experience the new Talent Revamps for Death Knights, Druids, Hunters, Priests, and Rogues. Additionally, players will also get to see the new updated Alchemy and Blacksmithing professions.
