Gear is an essential piece in the puzzle that is World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Armor, weapons, rings, and necklaces allow players to increase their character's power beyond just playing the classes properly.
There are all kinds of gear that come from all types of sources, be it random standalone pieces from dungeons, Mythic+, World Quests, and more, to strong trinkets and weapons from raids such as Vault of the Incarnates. These increase player power in some way, shape, or form.
Another way—which also counts as armor or gear—to increase a player's power is through tier sets. These infamous gear pieces work together to give players a unique, class-specific bonus, giving the most power possible.

How to get tier gear in WoW Dragonflight
Tier sets have long been a staple in World of Warcraft, from its original release back in 2004, all the way to more recent expansions such as Shadowlands. These gear pieces are an interesting way to bring something unique to each individual class.
During Battle for Azeroth and most of the Shadowlands, Blizzard rid away of tier sets, however, come to the end of the Shadowlands expansion, not only were they re-introduced into the game, the developers added another way to attain them. Something that's continued and been iterated upon in Dragonflight.
When it comes to getting tier gear in WoW Dragonflight, players can go about obtaining it in two ways: raiding, in this case, Vault of the Incarnates, and the Great Vault. There will be a third avenue to getting tier gear which is the Inspiration Catalyst.
The Inspiration Catalyst will become available in the week of January 23. With the Inspiration Catalyst, like the Creation Catalyst before it in Shadowlands, players will be able to convert normal pieces of gear into tier gear. So by the end of it, players will have raids, the Great Vault, and the Inspiration Catalyst to get their tier sets with their bonuses.
More information regarding the Inspiration Catalyst has yet to be revealed by Blizzard.
