Playable Moments are going to be a big part of the NBA 2K23 Jordan Challenge but you'll also notice even more gameplay changes.
The gameplay in the game mode will match the era that it's played in. Things like a heavier focus on the post and mid-range game and reworking the transition game for the 1980s feel is what you can expect.
We had several other reveals in the Courtside Report including a few of the Playable Moments, some of which feature historic teams or the 1982 NCAA National Championship.
Here are a few of the things you can expect in the NBA 2K23 Jordan Challenge:
- More physicality modeled on the floor and in the paint, along with new signature style upgrades for classic greats like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, featuring all-new jump shot, layup and dunk packages.
- Hand-checking and hard-hitting body-ups for a different feel to the one-on-one battles with accurately represented regulations that mirror the 1990s basketball era, like the “Bad Boy” Pistons with their famous “Jordan Rules”
- Playing through the 1982 NCAA National Championship and the 1998 NBA Finals.
Now, let's take a look at what Erick Boenisch the VP of NBA Development at 2K and Visual Concepts had to say.
Comments from Erick Boenisch
One thing that we have to say is impressive about the NBA 2K23 Jordan Challenge aside from the gameplay is what Visual Concepts and 2K VP of NBA Development Erick Boenisch had to say.

Being transported back in time to the 1982 NCAA National Championship or the 1998 NBA Finals is something we all can get behind in the NBA 2K23 Jordan Challenge.
Here's what Boenisch said:
"The Jordan Challenge is an immersive experience unlike anything NBA 2K fans have seen, completely rebuilding the challenges from 2K11 and adding five new moments.
"Our team took everything into consideration when constructing this game mode, from the arenas, the players, the uniforms, the broadcast, and the play style of the era have been accounted for in an effort to give fans a truly authentic 1980s playable experience."
