The Animal Crossing 1.9.0 Update is finally here! It's time to celebrate and get ready for Bunny Day!
LATEST - It Is Live Now and Bunny Day Is Coming!
The Animal Crossing 1.9 Update for New Horizons should be available for everyone now.
You can see an overview of what it adds below:
When Isabelle says "Seasonal Items", we all know what she means right...?
Bunny Day is back! Starting March 28th, 2021, Zipper is going to return and Animal Crossing New Horizon's first repeated seasonal event will begin.

It's a strangely important milestone, right?
There will be an Egg Hunt, Bunny Day outfits and furniture, and new items in both Nook's Cranny and the Able Sisters' shop.
Sanrio Characters
One of the main things arriving as part of the new update, 1.9.0, is Sanrio inspired content.
As Nintendo say: "Add some Sanrio Sweetness to your island. Starting March 26, the Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack will be available for purchase at Target stores across the U.S."
"You’ll be able use these six vibrantly designed amiibo cards to invite cute and colorful Animal Crossing residents inspired by popular Sanrio characters to your island, including Rita, Chai and Toby. These amiibo cards exchange bells for special Sanrio-themed furniture and fashion items in-game, too. You can even invite these characters to Harv’s Island for a fun photo session in Photopia."
Therefore, while the content will be added as part of the New Horizons update on March 17/18, it won't be live in game until March 26, so keep an eye out.
One-Year Anniversary
Animal Crossing New Horizons has almost been out a whole year. We know! We can't quite believe it, given the strange year it has been, but it's true.
Animal Crossing New Horizons originally released on March 20th, 2020, and has become the 15th best-selling video game in history and the 2nd best-selling video game on the Nintendo Switch!
Stats like that deserve celebration, right?
Although Isabelle has been keeping mum about what's in store, it would be a strange opportunity for Nintendo to pass up if they didn't have something planned.

The release date for the Animal Crossing 1.9 update also coincides very nicely with the one-year anniversary, don't you think?
Bunny Day and Easter
Last year, Bunny Day and the Easter celebrations took place in New Horizons in April.
So, while we're not expecting anything for this in the Animal Crossing 1.9 update, could we see the ground-work being laid out in the next download?

Developers often add things to games behind the scenes in updates to prepare their titles for future releases and we doubt Animal Crossing New Horizons is anything different.
That means we could potentially see a fairly tame update on March 17th, 2021. However, it could be building up to a bigger update in April!
We for one can't wait to see Zipper and his terrifying gaze.
New DIY Recipies & Items
We don't have a lot of information about what new DIY Recipies and items are in store just yet.
However, Animal Crossing's "Exploring March" video does suggest that more Bamboo-based DIY Recipies are in the works.
You can check out the clip in the Tweet below:
What is very telling is that the video doesn't really showcase anything past the Mario Day content which was added recently.
More Confirmed 1.9.0 Content
The Custom Design Pro Editor + feature is coming as part of the update. "The Custom Design app on your NookPhone is getting an upgrade! Use your Nook Miles at the Nook Stop in Resident Services to unlock the feature."
Also it introduces the Custom Design Portal. You will be able to add the Custom Design Portal found in the Able Sisters store directly to your in-game NookPhone app.
Other Speculation
One other key piece of speculation that's making the rounds is that there are a few new Villagers on the way to Animal Crossing New Horizons.
With players' Islands having a maximum capacity, this could lead to a heartbreaking period for Animal Crossing fans if they want to invite any new Villagers to their Island.
We don't know whether this is the case yet, so hold off on your evictions until more information arrives!
It's hard to imagine nothing is going on for the next few weeks, so we think we're going to get more information very soon.
Until we know more, keep an eye on the official Animal Crossing social media channels for the latest.
