Madden 22 is making a series of upgrades to Franchise Mode this year, and one of the most anticipated is the addition of improved scouting.
We've recently gotten some more details on when scouting will be added to Franchise Mode in Madden 22, and there's some bad news about everyone's save files.
Madden 22 set to add scouting in September
Madden 22 is due to land in less than two months, and all eyes are on this year's new features, especially Franchise Mode.
After the #FixMaddenFranchise movement, EA has taken note and made significant strides to improve the game mode this year.
Weekly Strategy, Staff Management, an updated hub, and the new season engine will all be live when the title launches in August.
So far we've gotten to try each of these in the Madden 22 beta, and they've definitely made a difference and improved Franchise as a whole.
Weekly Strategy, and the addition of Halftime Adjustments, both really lean into the strategy of Franchise taking place as much before the game as during.
There's more to come for Franchise, but the highly requested scouting features won't be available until a Title Update is released in September.
Scouting upgrade will require Franchise Mode restart
Madden 22 released new Gridiron Notes taking a deeper look at the upgrades they've got in the works for Franchise Mode this year.
In it, they've included the following details about the addition of scouting:
"One of the most highly-requested features for Franchise was a more robust scouting feature when searching for your future star player. Since Scouting is a significant structural overhaul and fundamental piece of the Franchise experience, there will be a Live Service update targeted for September. This will require players to restart their Franchise in Madden NFL 22 after downloading the Title Update."
That final detail is on that many fans are going to need to keep in mind, and it may even deter some from using Franchise or purchasing the game until after the scouting update is added.
It's not clear if the update will automatically invalidate current Franchise saves when it goes live or if players will be able to continue an old save without the Scouting addition.
However, either circumstance ends in the same result of players having to start a new Franchise to actually enjoy and take advantage of this new feature.
