FIFA 21 Career Mode: Manchester United – Confirmed Ratings, Line-Up, Potential, Guide, Transfers & more

Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League since 2012/13!

With this guide, can you bring trophies back to Manchester United on FIFA 21 Career Mode?

Squad

Manchester United have loads of options in midfield, but we have opted to be aggressive and play an attacking 4-3-3.

Starting XI

Our favoured 4-3-3 with an attacking midfielder allows wingers Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood to stay high and wide.

With such pace across the front three, Bruno Fernandes can pull the strings in behind. Central midfielders Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek are also more than capable on the front foot.

The full backs pick themselves with Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka the first-choice pair. Captain Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof’s partnership is growing, but the Swede’s place could be under threat.

David de Gea is still the number one, although we expect Dean Henderson to improve quickly on FIFA 21 Career Mode.

CHANCES! United's midfield is packed with creative players

Bench

Dean Henderson (OVR 80) will start as the second-choice goalkeeper, with Chris Smalling (OVR 79) and Eric Bailly (OVR 79) vying for the backup centre back role.

Young full backs Diogo Dalot, Brandon Williams and Timothy Fosu-Mensah will provide the cover for Shaw and Wan-Bissaka. You will only want one of these on the bench.

There are loads of midfield options in United’s squad. With such an attacking starting XI, it could be worth having either Nemanja Matic (OVR 80) or Scott McTominay (OVR 79) alongside Fred (OVR 81) in the matchday squad.

RAPID! Dan James provides plenty of pace off the bench

The Red Devils have limited options in attack, with Daniel James (OVR 77) and Odion Ighalo (OVR 77) the only recognized forwards in the squad outside of the Starting XI.

Reserves

Attacking midfielders Juan Mata (OVR 79), Jesse Lingard (OVR 77) and Andreas Pereira are unlikely to get minutes with such quality in front of them.

Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are two centre backs that could make the squad, but the strength in depth is missing for United in other areas.

Tactics

Allowing your front three to Stay Forward will make you excellent on the counter but could leave you with few defensive numbers.

ON THE BREAK! These settings will ensure your wingers are a constant threat

It is crucial to give Bruno Fernandes license to Free Roam. This means that he can go wherever he likes to pick the ball up and create chances for your forwards.

With such an emphasis on attacking play, you may want full backs Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Stay Back While Attacking. This will leave you less open to counterattacks.

FLAT BACK 4! Get your full backs to stay at home or you could get exposed

It is worth setting your team to press when you lose possession. With such pace you can win the ball back quickly and high up the pitch. Constant Pressure is an option but can fatigue your players more quickly.

Transfers

United appear to have missed out on Jadon Sancho this summer, but he is someone you should look to bring in!

Out

Sergio Romero won’t be happy as a third-choice keeper, and he could free up some cash as he is on some hefty wages.

There is no need for seven centre back in the squad. Axel Tuanzebe could be worth loaning out to gain some experience and it would be sensible to offload two more.

Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Andreas Pereira are all surplus to requirements, although it may be worth keeping one in the squad just in case of emergency.

In

Get Jadon Sancho (OVR 87)! The England and Dortmund star has one of the highest potentials on the game and will fit straight into the starting XI.

There is the need for some change at United, so priority positions should be at left back and a new striker too.

United are linked with Alex Telles (OVR 84) in real life, and he is an excellent option on FIFA 21 too.

ALL ROUNDER! Telles is a textbook modern full back

A tall striker would bring something different to the table. Wolves’ Raul Jimenez (OVR 84) is a top player, or you could try and bring Romelu Lukaku (OVR 85) back to Manchester.

Training

The new growth system means you can shape your players into new positions, so you must transition Mason Greenwood into a striker!

LETHAL! Greenwood can become a top class finisher

United’s attackers are all versatile and can play anywhere across the front three, so if you have a preference you can change it!

Axel Tuanzebe is a young defender to train hard, as is Brandon Williams who can play on either flank.
