Full content roadmap
Warzone and Black Ops Cold War will be getting some Halloween content over the next two weeks - you can check it all out below!
The "Ghosts of Verdansk" limited-time mode and the Scream Operator Bundle are the big selling points for Warzone, but there's a lot more on offer across both titles.
If you complete a full set of event challenges, you can unlock the LAPA SMG too - could this be the new meta in Warzone?
New teaser trailer leads into event reveal
Call of Duty's next major Blog post is going to be all about "The Haunting" and we know when we're getting it.
"Intel" about the Warzone Halloween event is dropping on October 18th - we don't have a specific time for this but we expect something to be announced at the following times:
- 10:00 PST
- 13:00 EST
- 18:00 BST
Following on from this, the event itself is due to start on October 19th - this information was shared through the Season 6 content roadmap a couple of weeks ago.
Unless anything unusual happens, "The Haunting" should start at the same time as every other Warzone event - at the following times:
- 10:00 October 19th PST
- 13:00 October 19th EST
- 18:00 October 19th BST
ZOMBIE ROYALE - Is it coming back this year?
To give Warzone some credit, we don't really see recurring LTMs in Call of Duty's battle royale. We know it hasn't been around too long, but almost every event-related LTM has been somewhat different. With "The Haunting" rolling back around, though, we have to ask - is Zombie Royale coming back?
From what we can tell, Activision try to bring some narrative into their Warzone events - even the scary ones - and last year's Zombie Royale had some slight story behind it. With Vanguard's Zombies mode fresh in our minds - following the official reveal - is Zombie Royale going to get a Vanguard twist this year?
We think it will. We also think that the "Night Mode" variant of Verdansk is coming back, jump-scares included. There's nothing wrong with recurring LTMs if they're handled properly and The Haunting of Verdansk has easily been the best in-game event Warzone has seen so far. So... Why change it?
STORE BUNDLES - Ghostface, Donnie Darko, and more
It wouldn't be a Warzone event without new cosmetics, right? This year's Halloween event is going to introduce a series of themed, limited-time, bundles that you're going to want to take a look at. We have everything you need to know below...
Ghostface Operator Bundle
Firstly, Ghostface from Scream is being added to Black Ops Cold War and Warzone as a new Operator - this is going to be similar to how Rambo and McClane were added during the 80s Action Heroes event earlier in the year.
Donnie Darko Operator Bundle
In addition to this, Frank the Rabbit from Donnie Darko is also coming to Warzone and Black Ops Cold War during 2021's Halloween event. The only difference between this and the Scream Bundle is that Frank the Rabbit is actually going to be a Baker skin - not a fully new Operator.
Disciple Operator Bundle
This Tracer Pack bundle features a new Operator skin for Weaver as he becomes something he swore to destroy - a Disciple from Mauer Der Toten and Cold War Zombies.
Ghost of War Operator Bundle
This features a skeletal appearance for Naga, as far as we're aware, which should strike fear in your enemies hearts.
Necro Queen Operator Bundle
It's time to "siphon the souls of the living" with this bundle for Portnova - It even comes with a monstrous AK-47 Weapon Blueprint!
CHALLENGES & REWARDS - What we're expecting?
2020's Haunting of Verdansk event was like any other Warzone event - there were in-game challenges and lacklustre rewards to be won for playing in LTMs and throughout the duration of the Halloween Event. We don't think that's going to change anytime soon and 2021's Warzone Halloween Event should feature some sort of challenge set and rewards.
These will most likely include Calling Cards, Emotes, Emblems, and Weapon Charms.
The Haunting of Verdansk event also threw in a couple of Halloween-themed Operator Bundles. Billy, the puppet from SAW, and Leatherface were added as Operator skins alongside a Grim Reaper Ghost Operator Bundle and more.
With Black Ops Cold War already getting Rambo, John McClain, and a Judge Dredd Operator Skin Bundle... Some sort of Halloween-themed Operator bundle seems like a given in October 2021, right?
Black Ops Cold War - and Warzone - is currently set in 1984. We know there are quite a few 80s horror icons that we'd love to see as Operator Skin Bundles. Michael Myers, Freddie Kruger...
NIGHT MODE - Is Verdansk "going dark" again?
Throughout the first Warzone Halloween Event - the Haunting of Verdansk in 2020 - Verdansk was darker. "Night mode" was a popular addition to Warzone for the duration of the event, however, we haven't really seen it pop up since.
Warzone players are always asking for some sort of "night mode" to be added back into Warzone and a Halloween Event is the best time for it, right?
We don't know for certain, but we could certainly see Verdansk '84 in the darkness following the destruction teased in the Season 6 Cinematic Trailer. We don't know for certain whether it's on the way, but we are expecting some sort of "night mode" to be featured in October.
