Vanguard is right around the corner and that means this could be the last time we see Verdansk - so, Treyarch has opted to start blowing it up again. Warzone's Season 6 update is going to introduce major map changes to some areas of Verdansk '84. Here's everything you need to know.

When can you download the update?

Raven Software has opted to ditch any preload options for Warzone's major title updates - unusually - and this means that you're going to have to wait until Season 6 starts before you can start downloading and installing the new Warzone update.

Black Ops Cold War's Season 6 update is due to be available to preload from the following times:

  • 21:00 October 5th - PST
  • 23:00 October 5th - EST
  • 04:00 October 6th - BST

This is only 24 hours before the new season is due to start, but it's an important 24 hours when you consider the fact that Warzone's update will be quite sizable - and then require copying to install fully.

START TIME - When does the update come out?

Black Ops Cold War's final season of content, which is also Warzone's second "Season 6" update, is going to release on October 7th. You can get a glimpse of what to expect in the Season 6 Intro Cinematic below:

Specifically, we should see the Season 6 map changes implemented in Warzone from the following times:

  • 21:00 October 6th - PST
  • 23:00 October 6th - EST
  • 04:00 October 7th - BST

When do the Patch Notes drop?

As you can see below, we know about the major changes and the new POI locations coming to Warzone's map in Season 6 - however, we don't have any details about these changes. Well... We don't have any details about any of the changes coming to Warzone this week, really.

Raven Software like to keep tight-lipped about their title updates until the update itself is out - our only insight into what's new is the update's Patch Notes. We don't have Season 6's Patch Notes, yet, but we should get them soon...

We're expecting a general post from Raven Software with some light, Warzone-specific information at roughly the following times:

  • 10:00 October 4th - PST
  • 13:00 October 4th - EST
  • 18:00 October 4th - BST

Then, we should see the full Patch Notes for Warzone's Season 6 update release just before the update itself at the following times:

  • 10:00 October 6th - PST
  • 13:00 October 6th - EST
  • 18:00 October 6th - BST

The times specified above are all rough estimations based on previous announcements - actual times may vary slightly, however, more information is coming soon. Keep your eyes on RavenSoftware on Twitter.

DETAILS CONFIRMED - New POI Locations

" Adler’s actions while AWOL led to Verdansk being levelled, significantly altering areas of the central city and revealing previously undiscovered bunkers packed with stockpiles of WWII-era German bombs and armaments."

There are a few major changes coming to Warzone's map in Season 6 and we've got them listed below.

Stadium and Downtown Fissures

As you can see below, huge cracks have appeared throughout the Stadium and much of Downtown following Adler's explosions. Nakatomi Plaza - at least that's what it was called - is still standing, for now.

DOWNTOWN FISSURES - Less verticality, less loot...

World War II Bunkers

In addition to this destruction, World War II Bunkers have started to appear in Verdansk '84. We don't know where just yet, but they're "an underground system of passageways and armaments rooms" ready for Operators to explore.

DEEP DOWN - Will these be worth exploring?

New Gulag, Old Gulag

Season 6 is changing the Gulag, again, as we expected. However, it's going to include maps with layouts inspired by the original Warzone Gulag! They're not going to be identical, but much more familiar to a lot of Warzone veterans.

MAP CHANGES - What's going on in Verdansk?

To put it bluntly, a lot. Black Ops Cold War's post-launch story has put Adler through the wringer and Season 5 saw him go rogue in an effort to stop Stitch from executing the Numbers Program in Verdansk.

He failed, somewhat, as evident in Warzone's Numbers Event - however, he's got one last trick up his sleeve. Adler has planted an obscene amount of seismic charges under Verdansk and Season 6 will see them "go off".

As you can see in the short clip below, which is taken from the Season 6 Intro Cinematic, Verdansk is going to change drastically in the next Warzone update.

It looks like Stadium and Downtown are two POI locations that will be affected in the next batch of Warzone map changes - however, we could see the entirety of the map fractured if the scale of the explosions is as bad as it looks.

We know it feels like Warzone updates often make lacklustre attempts at changing the map, but a strong finish to Cold War integration in Warzone could be an important factor in winning players over ahead of Vanguard's release and the new Pacific Theatre Warzone map.
