Warzone's next title update is here and, although it seems like it's quite substantial, it actually looks a little basic when you delve into it.
There's new Black Ops Cold War content, as per the usual, and few exciting things coming to Warzone specifically. However, it still feels like it's missing something. Here's everything we know about Warzone Season 5 thanks to the content roadmap.
New Black Ops Cold War Season 5 Content
New Black Ops Weapons
The EM2 Assault Rifle and TEC-9 SMG have been added to Warzone as Battle Pass reward weapons. In addition to this, the Cane melee weapon will be available to unlock via an in-game challenge.
Later in the season, the Marshal secondary is also going to be available via in-game challenge. Every new weapon is also unlockable by acquiring a Weapon Blueprint for the weapon. This won't unlock the base version of the weapon but will allow you to use it when crafting loadouts.
New Black Ops Operators
Kitsune, Stryker, and Hudson have all been added to Warzone in the new update. Kitsune will be available at Tier 0 of the Battle Pass and Stryker and Hudson will both be unlockable via in-game Store Bundles with an Operator Skin. We expect both Operators to get their own Tracer Pack Operator Bundles in the coming weeks.
Warzone Rumble is coming back...
Warzone Rumble is back and it's going to be called Clash going forwards. It's a 50v50 elimination deathmatch with unlimited respawns. There's only a 200-point score limit, though. This means each player only technically needs 4 kills to win...
" Clash pits quads against each other in an unlimited respawn deathmatch to 200 points. Starting Loadouts are enabled, meaning you can level up your weapons and finish those camo challenges as you work to defeat the opposing platoon... Plenty of improvements are being taken from the standard Warzone modes and being added into Clash, including the Ping system, Armor Plate drops, Cash and Buy Stations, and vehicles."
There are new exclusive Perks on the way...
Raven Software has added two new Warzone-exclusive Perks in the Season 5 update. This is, perhaps, the most interesting part about the Season 5 content roadmap.
Combat Scout: Damaging an enemy briefly highlights the foe in bright orange and automatically pings them.
Tempered: Tempered allows each Armor Plate to absorb 75 points of damage instead of the standard 50, but an Operator will only be able to wear two at a time instead of three.
We don't think either Perk will change the meta going forwards, but it's certainly going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Verdansk '84 has new POI locations...
A series of Mobile Broadcast Locations are going to appear in Verdansk '84 at the start of Season 5. They will be in different locations from match to match and should offer interesting flashpoints with decent loot. They will also emit a broadcast, but we don't know what this means yet...
" NATO is aware of these recent Perseus efforts and has decided to [[REDACTED]]. Operators should look for [[REDACTED]] when it arrives on [[REDACTED]] within Verdansk, as a highly important [[REDACTED]]."
We expect this to tie into the mid-season event that has been mentioned: The Numbers.
The Gulag is getting Rush-ed, too...
The Season 5 update is also changing the layout of the Gulag, again. This time, Black Ops II's Rush is going to be reflected by wire fencing and plywood. Rush was added to Black Ops Cold War in Season 4, so if you've played either title you should be familiar with the layout. It's pretty simple...
" At the start of the season, the Gulag sees an updated format as it converts into the classic Black Ops II map, Rush. Specifically comprised of the main speedball arena, Rush should feel right at home for paintball fiends who know how to dart from cover-to-cover toward their enemy."
