Do you want the original Gulag layout back? Tough. Raven Software hates that you'd even think that. The Gulag isn't a Gulag at all anymore and that's just what you're going to need to deal with. There are some Gulag changes coming to Warzone in Season 5, but it's nothing too exciting. They're just changing the map it's based on. Here's what we know...
Warzone's new Gulag is coming...
At the start of Season 5, Warzone's Gulag is going to be updated and reflect the main speedball arena of Rush. The first Paintball speedball arena opened in California in 1989, so this is a bit of reality-bending, but we suppose that's fine.
Black Ops II's Rush was added to Black Ops Cold War in Season 4 and, if you've played either game, you should find yourself right at home in this updated Gulag.
" At the start of the season, the Gulag sees an updated format as it converts into the classic Black Ops II map, Rush. Specifically comprised of the main speedball arena, Rush should feel right at home for paintball fiends who know how to dart from cover-to-cover toward their enemy.
Need to practice in anticipation of being sent to the Gulag? Head into Black Ops Cold War and play Rush in Multiplayer; you could be a savant of the stadium by the time it arrives in Warzone."
Raven Software hasn't really commented on anything else regarding the Gulag, yet, but we can imagine they'll say a little more in the Warzone-specific Season 5 patch notes that we're expecting to be released ahead of launch.
When does Season 5 start?
Warzone's Season 5 update releases simultaneously with Black Ops Cold War's Season 5 update and that means both were released on August 12th at the following times:
- 21:00 August 11th - PST
- 00:00 August 12th - EST
- 05:00 August 12th - BST
The new Season 5 Gulag changes should be implemented as soon as the new update goes live at the times stated above. As far as we know, the Rush Gulag will remain in place until the end of Season 5.
