The hype surrounding MLB The Show 25 continues to grow, especially after details about the game's release date and possible new features were revealed.

Baseball fans have high expectations for MLB The Show 25, especially after a survey about the game revealed plenty of possible new features. While some of the features suggested are far-fetched others would be a fantastic addition to the game.

But which features really need to be implemented in MLB The Show 25 and why? Let's Find out.

A New Game Engine

Fans have been complaining about the MLB The Show graphics for quite a while. The criticism only grew after Professional Baseball Spirits 2024-2025 was released, as graphically the game looks astonishing.

While graphics aren't the be-all and end-all of any game, they can help make a game significantly more immersive and enjoyable to play. Graphically, MLB The Show looks stuck in time, and while gameplay should be prioritized, MLB The Show 25 needs to introduce substantial graphics improvement.

If we compare MLB The Show to other popular sports titles, such as Madden 25, NHL, NBA 2K25, and FC 25, we can easily see it has the worst graphics of all. So a new game engine and improved graphics are something we need to see in MLB The Show 25.

Make Road to the Show Interesting Again

Road to the Show has the potential to be the best mode in MLB The Show. Unfortunately, the game mode has become stale in the last couple of years, and apart from the introduction of female players, no meaningful new feature has been added.

On the field, while there is definitely room for improvement, the experience is realistic and somewhat entertaining. However, The Road to the Show experience needs a big improvement off the field, as it delivers everything apart from a realistic and immersive experience.

The trade logic needs to be vastly improved, as sometimes it feels like teams are just trading for the sake of it. Call-ups aren't tied to your in-game performances but to your character level. Even if you are performing awfully, once you reach a certain level you will be called up to the major league, which isn't realistic.

Road to the Show should give players a taste of the life of professional baseball players, both on and off the field. However, I don't think the mode currently does that, and new features are necessary to make Road to the Show feel unique again.

Make game performances have an impact on whether players are called up or not. Improve the trade logic so that players don't have to deal with nonsense trades that can hurt their team's championship aspirations, which frustrates many players.

But above all else, introduce features that actually make fans feel like baseball players outside the field. After all, Road to the Show is supposed to be a game mode that lets you step into the shoes of a professional player and experience the ups and downs of a baseball career.

Fewer Players Behind a PayWall

While this will probably not happen, it would be great to see fewer Diamond Dynasty players only available via packs. Making cards acquirable via programs, challenges, or any other way that doesn't involve packs.

In MLB The Show 24, some of the best Diamond Dynasty cards were locked behind a paywall. Programs would be introduced, but their best cards would only be available via packs, making the game more pay-to-win.

While MLB The Show is by far the best sports games franchise when it comes to microtransactions, it seems every year the franchise takes a step closer to the EA Sports or NBA 2K titles, which are filled with microtransactions.

So it would be great to see that microtransactions aren't something MLB The Show wants to push to their player base, and making more players earnable via programs is a perfect way to showcase that.
